About Fedstack
Fedstack is a workforce transformation company delivering secure, mission-aligned technology talent to federal agencies and regulated environments. We develop high-performing engineers through AI-driven workforce development and skills-based hiring, helping critical government systems scale while expanding access to meaningful, high-growth careers.
Overview The Solutions Architect owns the technical bridge between Fedstack's internal platform and the federal agencies we serve. Internally, you'll set the architecture for the candidate-facing systems, application flow, coding challenge portal, and scheduling tools, ensuring they're secure, scalable, and built to support Fedstack's growth. Externally, you'll work with recruiting, program leadership, and business development to design and scope technical solutions for agency engagements, translating agency requirements into architecture that meets federal security and compliance expectations.
This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering and client delivery: the decisions you make shape both how Fedstack's own systems run and how confidently we can commit to what we deliver for agency partners.
Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the technical architecture for the candidate-facing platform, including the application flow, coding challenge portal, and scheduling tools
- Partner with engineering to ensure system design supports scalability, security, and compliance in regulated, federal environments
- Work with recruiting, program leadership, and business development to scope and design technical solutions for federal agency engagements
- Translate agency requirements and constraints into clear architecture, integration plans, and delivery approaches
- Evaluate build-vs-buy and integration decisions across the platform, including third-party tools and vendor systems
- Document architecture decisions, system diagrams, and technical standards for internal and client-facing use
- Serve as a technical point of contact in client conversations, presenting solution designs and rationale to non-technical stakeholders
- Identify risk, technical debt, and scalability gaps across current systems and recommend remediation
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in solutions architecture, technical architecture, or senior full-stack engineering, with direct client- or stakeholder-facing experience
- Solid understanding of secure system design, including experience with compliance frameworks relevant to federal or regulated environments (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST, FISMA)
- Experience architecting full-stack web applications and integrating third-party systems and APIs
- Ability to translate business and agency requirements into technical solutions and communicate them clearly to non-technical audiences
- Comfort working across both internal platform priorities and external client engagements simultaneously
- Strong documentation and diagramming skills for architecture decisions and system design
Nice to Have
- Experience working with or selling into federal agencies or other government contracting environments
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and deployment practices (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or similar)
- Experience designing systems for a hiring, recruiting, or workforce development platform
- Background in proposal or pre-sales technical support
