About the role

As a Senior WordPress Developer, you will be responsible for developing, and maintaining complex WordPress websites, including WooCommerce stores, membership-based platforms, custom integrations, and data migration projects. You will build custom plugins, themes, and integrations, ensure robust backend functionality, and mentor peers to maintain code quality and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Build custom WordPress plugins, themes, templates, widgets, shortcodes, and reusable components from scratch.
- Develop and maintain WooCommerce-based eCommerce solutions, including customized checkout, payment, product, and order workflows.
- Build and support membership and subscription-based WordPress platforms.
- Develop backend functionality using PHP and MySQL, following WordPress coding standards and development best practices.
- Integrate WordPress with external platforms such as CRM, marketing automation, payment, ERP, and cloud-based applications using REST APIs and webhooks.
- Plan and execute data migrations from legacy platforms or other CMS/eCommerce systems into WordPress.




- Troubleshoot complex application, plugin, database, integration, and performance issues.
- Optimize websites for performance, scalability, caching, Core Web Vitals, and security.
- Conduct peer code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards, security practices, and maintainable architecture.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Designers, QA, and other developers throughout the development lifecycle.
- Maintain appropriate technical documentation and follow established SDLC, deployment, and version-control processes.
- Estimate development effort, identify technical risks, and proactively communicate dependencies or blockers.
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers and provide technical guidance when required.
- Stay current with evolving WordPress technologies, development practices, AI-assisted development tools, security standards, and industry trends.

Required Experience & Skills Core WordPress & Backend

- 5+ years of WordPress development experience
- Strong backend PHP skills and MySQL database expertise
- Experience developing custom plugins, themes, integrations, and performing data migration
- Expertise in WooCommerce and eCommerce workflows
- Experience with membership-based websites and subscription management

Frontend & Tools

- Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.




- Experience converting UI/UX designs into responsive and functional WordPress interfaces.
- Experience with page builders such as Elementor, WPBakery, Thrive, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of responsive development and cross-browser compatibility.
- Familiarity with commonly used WordPress extensions and their customization.

Version Control & Collaboration

- Hands-on experience with Git-based version control and branching workflows.
- Experience working with Bitbucket, GitHub, or equivalent repositories.
- Comfortable working with Jira, Confluence, or similar project management and documentation tools.
- Understanding of development, staging, and production deployment processes.

Integrations & APIs

- Strong experience integrating WordPress with external applications using REST APIs, JSON, webhooks, and authentication mechanisms.
- Experience working with CRM, marketing, payment, or other SaaS platforms.
- Exposure to platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, ActiveCampaign, Stripe, or similar systems is preferred.

Good-to-Have

- Previous team handling experience
- Hands-on experience with Magento will be a plus
- Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD, or cloud hosting environments
- Experience with performance optimization, caching, and security hardening
