Senior Structural Design Engineer (Solar)

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Senior Structural Design Engineer to lead the engineering, analysis, and detailing of robust structural systems. Located at our RDC, Ghaziabad office, the successful candidate will bridge the gap between mechanical engineering concepts and structural execution. You will own the end-to-end design lifecyclefrom initial finite element analysis to fabrication-ready engineering outputs.

Candidates with dedicated experience in Solar Structures (ground-mounted/tracker/rooftop), Heavy Steel Structures, and Advanced Industrial Fabrication will be highly preferred.

Qualification: B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering / Civil Engineering; M.Tech in Structural Engineering (Highly Preferred).

Technical Software Stack The candidate must possess advanced, hands-on proficiency in the following software ecosystem:

- Drafting & Detailing: AutoCAD (Mandatory – Advanced Level) – Used for core engineering layouts.
- 3D Modeling & Mechanical Design: SolidWorks – Utilized for advanced structural weldments and sheet metal modeling.
- Structural Analysis: STAAD.Pro – Utilized for advanced FEA, wind, and seismic load calculations.
- Visualizations & Concept Mockups: Autodesk 3ds Max – Used for rendering structural concept models.

Key Responsibilities: Structural Analysis & Core Design

- Perform rigorous structural engineering analysis (Finite Element Analysis) using STAAD.Pro to calculate stress, strain, shear force, and bending moments.
- Apply relevant Indian and International design standards (e.g., IS 800 for steel structures, IS 875 for wind loads, and IS 1893 for seismic criteria).
- Design custom structural components, load-bearing frames, purlins, column assemblies,



and foundation mounting systems.

2D Drafting & 3D Modeling

- Develop highly accurate, fabrication-ready 2D structural layouts, section views, and detailed shop drawings using AutoCAD.
- Build sophisticated, parametric 3D models and structural assemblies using SolidWorks, ensuring zero interference between connected parts.
- Generate high-quality 3D visual mockups using 3ds Max for technical presentations and client approvals.

Fabrication & Cross-Functional Coordination

- Collaborate directly with the production, fabrication, and shop floor teams to ensure design manufacturability and clear up any technical ambiguities.
- Conduct strict quality reviews of structural drawings to minimize on-site re-work and ensure compliance with design tolerances.
- Coordinate with site execution and project managers during the deployment phase of steel or solar structures.

Estimation & Documentation

- Prepare highly comprehensive Bill of Quantities (BOQs) and Bill of Materials (BOMs) to support procurement teams.
- Author technical datasheets, structural stability certificates, analysis reports, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for assembly.

Preferred Domain-Specific Experience

- Solar Structures: Design of fixed tilt, seasonal tilt, and single-axis solar tracker structures, including cold-formed steel engineering.
- Steel Structures & PEB: In-depth exposure to Pre-Engineered Buildings (PEB), heavy structural steel frames, truss designs, and bolted/welded joint connections.
- Fabrication Knowledge: Solid understanding of sheet metal operations, CNC cutting tolerances, welding symbols, and hot-dip galvanization requirements.

Competencies & Soft Skills

- Exceptional analytical skills with a data-driven approach to solving structural weight minimization vs. load optimization problems.
- Strong communication skills to liaise smoothly between vendors, fabricators, and management.
- High attention to detail and zero-tolerance for design inaccuracies.
