Senior Software Developer — Backend (Node.js)

The Role:

We're looking for a Senior Software Developer who is strong on the backend and is also a team player. You'll design, build, deploy, and operate the microservices that power our loan platform. You'll own features end-to-end, mentor developers, and shape architecture decisions.

What will you work on:

- Building and operating microservices — designing service boundaries, inter-service communication, and data consistency across the loan lifecycle (origination, verification, disbursal, repayment, collections).
- Designing RESTful APIs — versioned contracts, pagination, idempotency, error handling, and clean documentation for mobile app, web app, and internal control panels.
- Owning third-party integrations end-to-end — credit bureaus, DigiLocker, VKYC, Account Aggregator, penny drop, and payment gateways (Razorpay, PayU, Cashfree) — with retries, timeouts, webhooks, and reconciliation built in.
- Writing clean Node.js code with strong MySQL design — schema design, indexing strategy, query optimization with EXPLAIN, transactions and isolation levels, and handling large transactional tables (loans, repayments, ledgers).
- Using Redis in production — caching, session management, rate limiting, and distributed locks (e.g.,



preventing duplicate disbursal requests).
- Deploying and operating applications on AWS — EC2, ECS, S3, RDS, SES, CloudWatch, IAM — including containerized builds with Docker and safe rollouts and rollbacks through CI/CD pipelines.
- Instrumenting services for observability — structured logging, metrics, alerting — and participating in production support and incident resolution.
- Building with compliance as a first-class constraint — consent capture, audit trails, data localization, and PII handling under RBI digital lending guidelines.
- Raising the engineering bar — reviewing code, mentoring developers, and identifying gaps in the current stack with a plan to fix them.
- Working cross-functionally — occasional frontend work in React or Angular as needed, and close collaboration with product, credit, and ops teams in an Agile environment.

What we are looking For :

- 4–6 years of experience building large, complex systems, with at least 2 years building and operating microservices in production.
- Node.js (3+ years) — Express.js or similar frameworks — you know the event loop, async patterns, and how to debug a misbehaving service under load.
- MySQL (4+ years) — complex queries, indexing, schema design, transactions and isolation levels (InnoDB), and debugging slow queries in production. Postgres experience is welcome — but you'll work in MySQL here.




- Strong data structures and algorithms fundamentals — you can reason about time and space complexity in real code, not just interview puzzles.
- AWS (2+ years) — EC2, ECS, S3, RDS, CloudWatch; Docker required. You've deployed and operated what you built.
- Redis — caching strategies, plus production experience with message queues (SQS, Kafka, or RabbitMQ) for async processing.
- CI/CD ownership — you've built pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI), not just used them.
- Strong API design instincts — REST conventions, auth (OAuth2/JWT), webhooks, versioning, and security fundamentals.
- Frontend (1+ year) — React or Angular — enough to ship a module when needed.
- You communicate well, own modules independently with minimal supervision, and take initiative.
- Worked in fintech, lending, or high-transaction-volume products — LOS/LMS, NBFC/LSP integrations, payments, or ledger systems.
- Built event-driven architectures or worked with API gateway patterns.
- PHP — comfortable navigating or modernising a legacy PHP codebase to a newer stack (not a core requirement, but useful given parts of our legacy stack).
- Used infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or CloudFormation).
- Familiarity with RBI digital lending guidelines, KFS, or the Account Aggregator framework.
- Worked with MongoDB or other NoSQL stores alongside relational databases.
