About the Role

Tata Motors Commercial Vehicle Business Unit (CVBU) is looking for a dynamic and result-oriented professional to lead Procurement, Materials Planning, and Inventory Management activities at its Pune manufacturing facility.

The role will be responsible for ensuring uninterrupted availability of direct and indirect materials, optimizing inventory, managing supplier performance, driving procurement excellence, and supporting plant operations through robust planning and execution. The position requires close collaboration with Manufacturing, Logistics, Engineering, Finance, Warehousing, and Supplier partners to achieve world-class supply chain performance.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Materials Planning

- Manage end-to-end procurement activities for direct and indirect materials from requisition to purchase order.
- Drive material planning and scheduling aligned to production requirements and MRP outputs.
- Evaluate supplier quotations from technical and commercial perspectives and finalize sourcing decisions.
- Lead commercial negotiations to achieve cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
- Coordinate timely release of schedules and ensure adherence by suppliers.
- Identify and mitigate material shortages, supply risks, and procurement exceptions.
- Support introduction of new parts, alternate sourcing, and engineering changes.

Inventory Management & Supply Chain Excellence

- Monitor inventory levels and ensure optimum stock availability without impacting production.
- Drive inventory optimization initiatives and working capital improvement.
- Manage material obsolescence and implement corrective actions to minimize business risk.
- Track material movement through warehouses and consolidation centres to ensure timely plant deliveries.
- Ensure zero stock-out situations through proactive planning and supplier follow-up.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and material planning processes.

Supplier Management

- Build strong partnerships with suppliers to improve delivery performance, responsiveness, and service levels.
- Monitor supplier performance on quality, delivery, ASN compliance, packaging, documentation, and cost parameters.
- Resolve supply chain disruptions, payment issues, and delivery challenges through effective stakeholder coordination.




- Review supplier performance and drive corrective and preventive actions for sustained improvement.

SAP, MIS & Analytics

- Maintain accurate master data and procurement transactions in SAP.
- Support GST-related and ERP system updates.
- Analyze procurement, inventory, and supplier performance data.
- Generate MIS reports, dashboards, and management presentations to support business decision-making.
- Drive data-based problem solving and performance reviews.

Stakeholder Management

- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Logistics, Warehousing, Engineering, Finance, and Procurement teams to ensure seamless material flow.
- Act as a key interface between internal stakeholders, suppliers, and logistics service providers.
- Drive effective communication, issue resolution, and process alignment across the supply chain ecosystem.

Desired Candidate Profile

Educational Qualification

- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.

Experience

- 7 to 12 years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Materials Planning, Inventory Control, or related functions.
- Experience in the Automotive, Commercial Vehicle, Manufacturing, or Engineering industry is preferred.
- Exposure to high-volume manufacturing environments and supplier management processes will be advantageous.
