About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Automotive Digital Modelling (CAS) professional who can transform creative design visions into world-class digital surfaces and production-feasible geometry.

This role sits at the heart of the Design Studio and plays a critical role in converting sketches, concepts, scans, and styling themes into high-quality digital models that preserve design intent while meeting engineering, manufacturing, and program requirements.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Alias-based CAS modelling, Class-A surfacing, and automotive exterior/interior development, with a strong eye for aesthetics, proportion, surface quality, and attention to detail.

Purpose of the Role

Digital Modelling is a critical enabler of vehicle design development, bridging the gap between creative styling and engineering realization.

The position is responsible for:

- Translating design intent into premium-quality digital surfaces.
- Developing concept and production-ready Class-A surface data.
- Driving digital model execution from early concept stages through design freeze.
- Collaborating with Design, Engineering, Packaging, CAE, Manufacturing, and Program teams to deliver robust and aesthetically superior vehicle surfaces.
- Ensuring world-class surface quality while maintaining styling intent, feasibility, and project timelines.

Without this role, the Design Studio would be unable to effectively convert styling visions into manufacturable digital assets, significantly impacting program quality, design maturity, and vehicle development timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Digital CAS Modelling & Surface Development

- Create high-quality digital models from design sketches, 2D themes, clay scans, polygon meshes, and styling inputs.
- Develop automotive exterior and interior surfaces while preserving styling intent and design quality.
- Execute end-to-end CAS development activities from concept modelling to Class-A surface delivery.
- Generate production-oriented surface data conforming to OEM quality standards.

Class-A Surface Excellence

- Deliver aesthetically refined, mathematically accurate, and production-feasible Class-A surfaces.
- Ensure continuity, surface quality, highlight control, gap & flush considerations, and premium visual execution.
- Maintain global benchmarking standards in surface development.

Design Integration & Cross-Functional Collaboration





- Work closely with Design Managers, Studio Designers, Engineers, and Program Teams to achieve optimized design solutions.
- Incorporate engineering, packaging, safety, tooling, and manufacturing constraints without compromising styling intent.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technically viable surfacing recommendations.

Program Execution

- Plan and manage modelling deliverables across multiple vehicle programs.
- Support milestone reviews, design releases, and design freeze activities.
- Handle rapid design iterations while ensuring delivery quality and adherence to timelines.

Innovation & Capability Building

- Drive best practices in CAS modelling, Class-A surfacing, visualization, and digital design workflows.
- Mentor junior modellers and contribute to capability development within the Design Studio.
- Stay updated on global trends, tools, and technologies in automotive digital design.

Required Technical Expertise

Must Have

- Strong expertise in Autodesk Alias for automotive CAS modelling and Class-A surfacing.
- Sketch-to-3D development
- Scan-to-surface workflows
- Concept modelling
- Production surfacing
- Class-A validation and delivery
- Automotive exterior systems
- Closures and body panels
- Plastic trim components
- Interior systems (IP, consoles, door trims, garnish parts, etc.)
- Excellent understanding of automotive design intent, proportions, form development, and surface quality.
- Strong knowledge of engineering interfaces, packaging requirements, feasibility constraints, and vehicle development processes.

- Sub-D modelling workflows
- Visualization and rendering pipelines
- Familiarity with global OEM surfacing standards and automotive development practices.

Education

- Fulltime BE/ B.Tech Degree in any discipline

Experience

- 3-10 years of experience in Automotive Digital Modelling (CAS) and Class-A Surface Development.
- Experience within an Automotive OEM Design Studio or leading automotive design consultancy.
- Demonstrated involvement in complete vehicle development programs from concept creation to production release.
