Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior IBM API Connect & DataPower Developer with strong hands-on experience in API Management, API Gateway, API Security, enterprise integration, and production support. The candidate should be capable of independently owning API solutions from requirements and technical design through development, deployment, troubleshooting, and production support.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement enterprise API solutions using IBM API Connect V10.x and IBM DataPower.

Define and implement API lifecycle management, including API development, versioning, publishing, subscription, security, deployment, and retirement.

Develop and configure API Connect APIs, Products, Plans, Catalogs, Applications, Consumer Organizations, and Developer Portal.

Design and implement API policies for authentication, authorization, transformation, routing, rate limiting, quota, caching, logging, and threat protection.

Develop and maintain DataPower Processing Policies, GatewayScript, XSLT, Multi-Protocol Gateway (MPGW), Web Service Proxy, and XML Firewall configurations.

Implement enterprise API security using OAuth 2.0, JWT, API Keys, Basic Authentication, TLS/mTLS, certificates, LDAP, and identity providers.

Configure and troubleshoot DataPower crypto objects, key stores, trust stores, certificates, TLS profiles, and secure communication.

Develop REST/SOAP integrations with backend systems including IBM MQ, databases, REST/SOAP services, and enterprise applications.

Design reusable API policies, gateway configurations, transformation logic, and integration components following enterprise standards.





Perform API and gateway performance tuning, capacity analysis, and troubleshooting of high-volume production environments.

Analyze logs, traces, API transactions, and error patterns to perform root-cause analysis and resolution of complex production issues.

Implement and support API deployments across Development, UAT, DR, and Production environments.

Automate API deployments using Git, Jenkins/GitLab CI/CD, and infrastructure/configuration automation where applicable.

Participate in technical architecture, solution design, code/configuration reviews, estimation, and technical documentation.

Lead technical discussions with application, security, infrastructure, integration, and client teams.

Mentor junior and mid-level developers and establish development and API governance best practices.

Senior-Level Expectations The candidate should be able to:

Independently translate business requirements into API architecture and technical solutions.

Design scalable, secure, reusable, and highly available API solutions.

Take ownership of complex API Connect/DataPower production issues from diagnosis through resolution.

Identify performance, security, and architectural risks and recommend improvements.

Conduct technical reviews and enforce development/API governance standards.

Mentor team members and provide technical leadership.

Communicate effectively with architects, clients, developers, security, infrastructure, and business stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

5–8 years of overall IT experience, with 5+ years of strong hands-on IBM API Connect and DataPower experience.

Demonstrated experience delivering and supporting enterprise-grade API platforms.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

Experience working in client-facing and production-critical environments.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
