Role Overview
Anblicks is looking for a Senior Data Engineer – Snowflake Native Applications with strong expertise in Java/Python, SQL, Snowflake, and backend application development, along with hands-on experience building applications using the Snowflake Native App Framework. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who can design and develop secure, scalable, production-grade, data-intensive applications that run on and integrate closely with the Snowflake platform.
You will work closely with solution architects, data engineers, software engineers, and cross-functional teams to translate business and technical requirements into robust software solutions. The role will involve application development, Snowflake Native Apps, Snowpark, APIs, cloud integrations, security, performance optimization, and CI/CD.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable, secure, and production-grade software applications using Java/Python, SQL, and Snowflake.
- Design and develop applications using the Snowflake Native App Framework.
- Build and manage Native App components including application packages, manifests, setup scripts, application roles, privileges, versioning, upgrades, and release management.
- Develop backend services, REST APIs, integrations, and application business logic using Java and/or Python.
- Develop complex and optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, and other Snowflake objects.
- Leverage Snowpark and Snowflake's programmatic development capabilities to build data-intensive applications and processing solutions.
- Develop and integrate applications with Snowflake, external APIs, SaaS platforms, enterprise systems, and cloud services.
- Build or support user-facing experiences using Streamlit in Snowflake, where required.
- Implement secure access and data-sharing patterns using Snowflake RBAC,
application roles, privileges, and secure data access mechanisms.
- Optimize application and database workloads for performance, scalability, reliability, and Snowflake cost efficiency.
- Design and implement automated unit testing, integration testing, CI/CD, deployment, versioning, and release processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across application code, SQL, Snowflake, integrations, data, and performance.
- Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to translate solution designs into maintainable and scalable implementations.
- Participate in technical design and code reviews, providing recommendations on architecture, security, scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Follow engineering best practices around coding standards, Git, CI/CD, testing, observability, security, and documentation.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices.
- Stay current with Snowflake Native Apps, Snowpark, Snowflake platform capabilities, and modern software engineering technologies.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of qualified experience in software/application development with experience delivering production-grade applications.
- Strong hands-on experience in Java and/or Python backend development.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, application architecture, exception handling, concurrency, testing, and performance optimization.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, including complex queries, joins, subqueries, stored procedures, functions, views, and query optimization.
- Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake and its core data platform capabilities.
- Proven hands-on experience developing applications using the Snowflake Native App Framework.

- Experience developing REST APIs, backend services, enterprise integrations, or distributed applications.
- Experience integrating backend applications with Snowflake and data platforms.
- Working proficiency in Python for application development, scripting, automation, or data processing.
- Hands-on experience with Snowpark or other Snowflake programmatic development capabilities.
- Experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP.
- Good understanding of Git, CI/CD, software testing, secure development practices, and application deployment.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to independently own complex technical deliverables and work effectively with architects and cross-functional engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience building data-intensive or high-volume applications.
- Experience with JDBC, connection pooling, transaction management, and database integration patterns.
- Experience building Streamlit applications in Snowflake, particularly as part of Snowflake Native Apps.
- Experience with Snowpark Container Services.
- Experience with Docker and containerized applications.
- Experience deploying or distributing Snowflake Native Apps across multiple customer Snowflake accounts or environments.
- Strong understanding of Snowflake security, RBAC, governance, data sharing, and secure data access patterns.
- Experience integrating Snowflake applications with external APIs, SaaS platforms, and cloud services.
- Experience designing automated build, test, deployment, and release pipelines for software and Snowflake applications.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Experience in data platforms, analytics, SaaS, enterprise software, or cloud-native application development.
- Exposure to modern Snowflake capabilities such as Snowflake Cortex, Snowflake Marketplace, Native Apps, or other Snowflake application ecosystem capabilities.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
