We are looking for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer – PSP / Hydropower to lead and coordinate civil construction activities for a major Pumped Storage / Hydropower Project.
The candidate will be responsible for overall site execution, construction planning, coordination with consultants and clients, subcontractor management, quality control, quantity and billing coordination, and timely completion of civil works in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, safety standards, project schedule, and cost targets.
Candidates with strong hands-on experience in hydropower / pumped storage projects and underground civil works will be preferred.
Key Responsibilities1. Civil Construction & Site Execution
- Lead and supervise overall civil construction activities at the project site.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor execution of major project components including:
- Dam and reservoir works
- Intake and outlet structures
- Tunnels and underground works
- Shafts and adits
- Powerhouse and associated civil structures
- RCC and concrete structures
- Excavation, rock support and stabilization works
- Grouting and other specialized civil works
- Ensure construction activities are executed as per approved drawings, method statements, specifications, and project requirements.
- Monitor site progress and ensure timely completion of planned activities.
1. Planning & Progress Monitoring
- Prepare and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly construction plans.
- Coordinate with the planning team for project schedules, DPRs, progress reports, and resource planning.
- Track actual progress against planned targets and identify delays or bottlenecks.
- Develop and implement corrective measures to achieve project milestones.
- Monitor manpower, equipment, materials, and other resources required for execution.
1. Technical Coordination
- Coordinate with design consultants, engineering teams, client representatives, and other project stakeholders.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, BOQs, and technical documents.
- Identify design/site constraints and coordinate for timely technical resolutions.
- Provide practical engineering solutions to site-related technical issues.
- Ensure proper implementation of approved design changes and technical instructions.
1. Quantity, BOQ & Billing
- Coordinate quantity measurements and verification of executed works.
- Review BOQs, quantity statements, and work measurements.
- Coordinate with commercial/billing teams for contractor and subcontractor bills.
- Monitor quantities against BOQ and identify variations or additional works.
- Assist in preparation and review of rate analysis, variation statements, and claims where required.
1. Subcontractor & Workforce Management
- Manage and coordinate civil subcontractors and contractors at site.
- Ensure adequate manpower, machinery, materials, and resources are deployed.
- Monitor subcontractor performance against agreed schedules and quality requirements.
- Resolve day-to-day execution issues and maintain effective coordination among various agencies.
- Ensure proper work sequencing and coordination between multiple construction activities.
1. QA/QC & EHS Coordination
- Ensure all civil works comply with approved quality standards, specifications, drawings, and method statements.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams for inspections, testing, approvals, and quality documentation.
- Monitor concrete, RCC, excavation, grouting, rock support, and other critical civil activities.
- Ensure implementation of project EHS policies and safe working practices.
- Coordinate with EHS teams to address site safety observations and corrective actions.
1. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Maintain records of site activities, quantities, manpower, equipment, materials, and construction progress.
- Participate in project review meetings with the client, consultants, contractors, and project management team.
- Highlight key site issues, risks, delays, and resource requirements to senior management.
Required Skills & Experience
- 12–18 years of relevant experience in civil construction, preferably in Hydropower / Pumped Storage Projects (PSP).
- Mandatory experience in Hydropower / PSP projects.
- Strong hands-on experience in dam, reservoir, tunnel, shaft, intake, underground and RCC/concrete works.
- Good understanding of excavation, rock excavation/support, grouting, concreting, and underground construction methodologies.
- Experience in subcontractor management and site execution.
- Good knowledge of construction planning, quantity estimation, BOQ, measurements, and billing coordination.
- Ability to read and interpret civil/structural drawings and technical specifications.
- Robust coordination skills with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
- Good knowledge of QA/QC requirements and construction safety practices.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively in remote/project-site environments.
Educational Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering from a recognized university/institute.
- M.Tech in Civil/Structural Engineering will be an added advantage.
Preferred Candidate Profile The ideal candidate should be a hands-on civil construction professional with strong exposure to large-scale hydropower or pumped storage projects, particularly involving underground works, tunnels, shafts, dams, intakes, RCC, excavation, and grouting. The candidate should have demonstrated experience in managing site execution teams, subcontractors, consultants, and clients while maintaining quality, safety, cost, and schedule objectives.
