Role Description As an SDE Intern at GigID, you will support the design, development, and maintenance of backend services and APIs used by our financial institution partners. You will work with the engineering team to implement features, fix bugs, write clean and testable code, and contribute to code reviews and documentation. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with mentors to understand requirements, experimenting with prototypes, and improving system performance and reliability.
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru, where you will learn industry-standard development practices and work closely with experienced engineers in a fast-paced startup environment. What You'll Do Build and ship features across our web application using JavaScript, React, and Java Work directly with the founders on core product decisions - your code will go into production Use Al tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, etc.) to speed up development, debug issues, and prototype ideas Write clean,
maintainable code and participate in code reviews Help design and build APIs, integrate with third-party fintech services (payment gateways, KYC providers, etc.) Debug, test, and improve performance of existing features Collaborate closely with a tiny team - your voice matters here
- Qualifications Strong foundational knowledge in Computer Science. Comfortable with JavaScript and React (personal projects, coursework, or internships all count) Working knowledge of Java (OOP fundamentals, basic backend/API concepts) Familiarity with using Al coding assistants effectively - prompting, iterating, and validating Al-generated code (not just copy-pasting) Curiosity about fintech, payments, or financial products is a big plus Self-starter who can work with ambiguity - startup life means things change fast Good communication skills - you'll be talking directly with founders, not buried in layers of management Ability to write clear, maintainable code, follow version control practices (e.g., Git), and work within a collaborative development workflow. Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Experience with Node.js, Spring Boot, or REST API development Familiarity with Git/GitHub workflows Exposure to databases (SQL/NoSQL) Interest in financial markets, banking systems, or payment infrastructure
