Job Summary The Storage Administrator operates and maintains storage environments, including deployment, monitoring, backup/recovery, and retirement of storage equipment, in compliance with Standards and OEM best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy storage and storage-related Equipment/Software, including staging, racking SAN/NAS, and network connections to servers or other equipment.
- Administer access to storage devices and environments, including privileged system accounts and role-based access.
- Monitor storage device and environment performance 24x7; detect, isolate, and diagnose incidents; recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor IO path performance from server to storage to identify and resolve back-end congestion.
- Perform systems administration, including scripting and customization of infrastructure software for storage systems.
- Manage file systems and capacity quotas, notifying Authorized Users per Specifications and Standards.
- Implement and ensure successful completion of backup/archival procedures, including scheduling and on-demand execution.
- Perform inter-site secure data transfers for disaster recovery and lead business continuity/recovery efforts for data and software as per requirements & setup.
- Implement -approved media recycling, replacement, encryption, and recopying procedures to ensure data integrity.
- Purge data/software per 's records retention policy and coordinate equipment disposal/lease returns at retirement.
- Perform OS and firmware updates on supported storage.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- storage administration experience (SAN/NAS) in an enterprise environment.
- Experience with backup/recovery and disaster recovery/business continuity procedures.
- Understanding of encryption, media management, and data retention/legal hold compliance requirements.
- Scripting/automation experience for storage provisioning and capacity management.
- Comfortable operating in a 24x7 monitored workplace with on-call responsibilities.
