Role Summary

The Resident Assistant Coordinator (RAC) anchors the Resident Assistantship Programme, working closely with the Head of Residence Life Office to shape and manage the residential experience of students in the university. The RAC works with Resident Assistants to support a socially, culturally, and intellectually enriching living environment for students. The role focuses on building an inclusive residence hall community, strengthening student engagement, and enabling a positive living-learning experience.

The RAC also supervises approximately 55–65 paraprofessional staff members, including Resident Assistants and Resident Assistant Mentors, across multiple capacities.

Role and Responsibilities

RA/RAM Programme Management

- Manage the RA/RAM selection, onboarding, training, supervision, and annual engagement cycle.





- Conduct regular check-ins, provide feedback, and ensure duty procedures, documentation, and role expectations are followed.

Residential Engagement and Student Support

- Guide RAs/RAMs in building an inclusive, engaged, and supportive residential community.

- Support student concerns through timely intervention, escalation, and coordination with relevant offices such as ACWB, Learning Support, Academic Affairs, Student Life, and wardens.

Crisis Response and Conflict Resolution

- Respond to residential emergencies, roommate conflicts, and student issues with sensitivity and professionalism.

- Train RAs/RAMs on emergency protocols, escalation processes, and incident reporting.

Administration and Communication

- Maintain key RA Programme records, duty reports, incident documentation, and communication channels.

- Manage programme-related budgets, reimbursements, invoices, and administrative requirements.

Please note: TheRAC is required to reside in on- or off-campus housing, especially during the Semesters. The procedure for leave approval will be in tandem with the guidelines issued by the HR department. The Head of Residence Life may supplement this further with more information and guidelines

Skill Required

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with attention to detail

- Patient listener, approachable, and empathetic persona

- Team player with the ability to work, coordinate, cooperate, and collaborate

- Professional, organized, and courteous

- Versatile about last-minute changes in assignments and tasks due to operational requirements

- Willing to work on the weekends and holidays
