Role: Manager- Research Ethics Compliance Officer

We’re seeking enthusiastic candidates ready to embark on an exciting journey and help bring our ambitious vision to life. As the Ethics Compliance Officer, you will establish and manage the university’s research ethics and compliance framework. This role involves streamlining ethics-approval processes, maintaining centralized records of all research ethics applications and outcomes, and ensuring adherence to national regulations and institutional policies.

You will strengthen research integrity across the university, support accreditation requirements, and enable eligibility for funded research projects and industry collaborations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills, with a sound understanding of research ethics, bioethics norms, and regulatory compliance frameworks applicable to academic research in India.

Key Responsibilities

- Establish (Create Policy, Guideline and OPs) and steer the Research Ethics Committee (EC), Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBSC) and Institutional Review Board (IRB) — draft Policy, guidelines, SOPs for reference, coordinate member appointments, schedule periodic meetings, prepare agendas, and maintain minutes and attendance records.




- Manage the end-to-end ethics-approval workflow — receive research proposals requiring ethics clearance, conduct preliminary screening, circulate applications to committee members, track review timelines, communicate decisions to principal investigators, and issue formal approval letters.
- Develop and maintain a centralized ethics-records repository — catalogue all ethics applications, amendments, adverse-event reports, and annual renewals in both hard and soft copy; ensure records are audit-ready and accessible to accreditation bodies. Maintain communication with all stakeholders within the University and the Agencies
- Monitor ongoing research for compliance — conduct periodic reviews of approved projects, verify adherence to approved protocols, track deviations and corrective actions, and report non-compliance to the relevant committee and university leadership.
- Stay current with regulatory and policy developments — track updates from ICMR, DBT, CDSCO, NAAC, and other regulatory bodies; revise institutional SOPs and guidelines accordingly; circulate regulatory alerts to faculty and research staff.
- Design, develop and deliver (active teaching) research-ethics training/coursework (course credit) — organize regular orientation sessions for new faculty and research scholars, conduct annual refresher workshops, and develop reference materials on responsible conduct of research, informed consent, data privacy, and conflict-of-interest disclosure.




- Support accreditation and funding-eligibility requirements — prepare ethics-related documentation for NAAC, NBA, UGC, and funding-agency audits; generate periodic compliance reports and dashboards for university leadership.

Experience and Education

- Post-graduation in Law, Bioethics, Life Sciences, Public Health, or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in research ethics administration, regulatory compliance, or institutional review board operations at a university or research institution.
- Candidates with experience in constituting and servicing ethics committees (IEC/IBSC), handling ICMR/DBT compliance or supporting NAAC/NBA accreditation documentation will be given preference.
- Candidates with a clear understanding of publication ethics and peer review process will be an asset.

Skills

- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage ethics-review cycles,

committee schedules, and regulatory filing deadlines simultaneously.

- Strong relationship-building abilities to foster trust and collaboration with faculty, research scholars, ethics committee members, and regulatory bodies.
- Ability to interpret and apply research-ethics regulations, prepare clear SOPs, and advise investigators on protocol design and informed-consent requirements.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential research information with discretion and integrity.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining compliance records and audit documentation.
- Ability to work independently as well as a team member, troubleshoot, and deal with issues/challenges in ethics-review and compliance operations.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; familiarity with ethics-management software or research- management platforms. Research Ethics tools are a plus. Passion for, understanding of, and commitment to inclusion, diversity, belonging, equity, and accessibility.
