ABOUT THE ROLEThe Research Associate will support the Financial Markets and Policy Project at ICPP, a research programme that bridges market participants, regulators, policymakers and academia through rigorous, neutral and evidence-based work. The role supports research on financial markets, regulation and public policy, contributing to working papers, policy briefs, white papers and case studies. Success in the first six months means producing reliable research support, well-organised data and high-quality inputs for ongoing policy research.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Collect, clean and organise data from sources such as SEBI, RBI, CMIE, Bloomberg and publicly available databases, and support quantitative analysis under close supervision, including basic econometric work.
- Conduct literature reviews and synthesise research relevant to ongoing projects, supporting analysis across financial markets, macroeconomics, regulation and public policy.
- Prepare background materials, research summaries and draft sections of working papers, policy briefs, white papers and case studies, and assist with formatting and editing outputs for academic and policy audiences.
- Track regulatory developments, legislative updates and market events relevant to the research agenda, including developments related to monetary policy, capital flows, investor protection, market infrastructure, corporate bond markets and emerging issues such as AI in capital markets.
- Support stakeholder engagement and research events by preparing relevant materials and assisting with the logistics of roundtables, workshops and other policy or research events.
- Contribute to the development of evidence-based research and policy outputs that bridge perspectives across market participants, regulators, policymakers and academia, with an emphasis on constructive and implementable frameworks.




- Provide general research assistance across ongoing projects and undertake other relevant tasks as required, working closely with the Senior Visiting Fellow and contributing reliably to the research programme.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Qualifications

- Undergraduate degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics or a closely related field; the role is open to final-year undergraduates and fresh graduates, with no prior work experience required.
- Basic familiarity with statistical tools such as Excel, STATA or R, with willingness to develop quantitative and research skills rapidly.
- Familiarity with Generative AI tools such as Claude, Claude Code or similar is preferred.
- Strong analytical and writing skills, demonstrated through coursework, academic projects or other relevant work.
- Strong interest in financial markets, macroeconomics or regulatory policy.
- High attention to detail and reliability, with the ability to manage research tasks carefully and support accurate, well-organised outputs.
