About the role

RUDE LABS is hiring on behalf of a client, a product company building a React SDK for AI chat interfaces used across multiple product teams. The SDK streams LLM responses, renders tool calls live, and works across AI providers. We're looking for an engineer who enjoys designing APIs that other developers rely on. Client details will be shared with shortlisted candidates.

What you'll do

- Build a strict TypeScript, ESM-only React SDK supporting OpenAI-style SSE and AG-UI event streams
- Handle streamed tool calls, reasoning-token extraction across providers, and clean request cancellation with AbortController
- Build local-first chat storage with eviction
- Establish test coverage for a large public API surface
- Own releases using semver, Changesets and a well-maintained CHANGELOG
- Join calls with the client's consumer teams to agree on API contracts and extension points

What we're looking for

- 5+ years with React and solid TypeScript (generics, discriminated unions, strict mode)
- Have built at least one reusable library, component library or npm package used by others




- Hands-on experience with streaming (SSE, ReadableStream or WebSockets)
- Experience with useReducer + Context and TanStack React Query
- Clear written communication: docs, migration guides, and direct discussions with product teams

Nice to have

- AI chat UI experience (Vercel AI SDK, CopilotKit / AG-UI, assistant-ui, LangChain.js)
- React 19, Turborepo, Biome, tsdown, Storybook
- Portkey, LiteLLM or other multi-provider AI gateways

Engagement terms

- Full-time, remote contract engagement through RUDE LABS
- ₹1,00,000 per month
- Paid per working day; unpaid leave is pro-rated at ₹5,000 per day
