Role & responsibilities
A. Incoming Inspection
- Inspect incoming raw materials, sheets, pipes, sections, bought-out items and components.
- Verify material dimensions, grade/specification and quantity against purchase documents.
- Check MTC/material certificates wherever applicable.
- Inspect material for visual defects, damage, rust, deformation, etc.
- Maintain incoming inspection records.
B. In-Process Inspection
- Carry out inspection at various stages of fabrication, cutting, bending, drilling, fit-up and welding.
- Verify dimensions as per approved drawings.
- Check welding parameters and visual weld quality.
- Verify weld size, weld location, alignment, fit-up, distortion and weld defects.
- Monitor fabrication activities and identify non-conforming work.
- Coordinate with Production for correction/rework of defects.
- Maintain in-process inspection reports/check sheets.
C. Final Inspection
- Conduct final dimensional and visual inspection of fabricated products.
- Verify length, width, height, hole position,
squareness, flatness, alignment and other drawing requirements.
- Check welding quality and surface condition.
Verify powder coating/painting condition where applicable.
- Ensure all required inspection points are completed before product release.
- Prepare and maintain Final Inspection Reports.
Identify and control non-conforming products.
Preferred candidate profile -
- Fresher or 23 years of experience in fabrication quality inspection.
- Experience in sheet metal/fabricated structures will be preferred.
- Should be capable of independently performing Incoming, In-Process and Final Inspection.
- Should be able to understand engineering drawings and inspection requirements.
- Positive communication and coordination skills with Production and Quality teams.
- Willing to work on the shop floor and perform hands-on inspection.
