Production Manager, Clumsy Bumsy

About Us: Clumsy Bumsy manufactures fresh cat food, sold directly to pet parents with no marketplace or middleman in between. What goes out of our factory is what a cat eats; there's no room for a shortcut on quality. We're midway through a 5x capacity expansion, which means quality checks that used to happen informally now need someone who owns them properly.

About the Role

We are setting up / scaling our cat food production line and are looking for a Production Manager to own the plant floor end-to-end from raw material intake to finished, packed, dispatch-ready product.

This is a hands-on shop floor role, not a desk role. You will be responsible for output, yield, quality, cost, machine uptime, and manpower. If a line stops at 2 AM, you are the person who knows why and how to fix it.

Important: This role involves daily hands-on work with fresh and frozen meat, poultry by-products, fish, rendered meals and animal fats. Please apply only if you are fully comfortable working in and around meat handling, cold rooms and cooking areas.

Key Responsibilities

Production

- Own the full cycle: raw material intake thawing and preparation cooking filling retort packing dispatch.
- Plan and execute daily and monthly production against sales forecasts.
- Deliver targets on output, yield, drained weight accuracy, rejection, rework and OEE.
- Manage the complete wet line: meat tempering and thawing, mincing and deboning, bowl chopping and emulsification, cooking in steam-jacketed vessels, chunk forming and cutting, filling, sealing/seaming, retort sterilisation, cooling, drying and secondary packing.

Sourcing, Vendors & Negotiation

- Identify, develop and qualify vendors for meat and animal-origin raw materials, premixes, palatants,



fats and packaging.
- Negotiate rates, payment terms and delivery schedules; drive cost reduction without compromising specification.
- Audit vendor quality and consistency; maintain alternate sources for every critical input.

Quality & Compliance

- Run the plant to GMP, GHP and HACCP; support ISO 22000 / FSSC 22000 audits.
- Ensure compliance with FSSAI (animal food category), BIS IS 11968:2019 for dog and cat food, and AAFCO / FEDIAF nutrient profiles where applicable.
- Ensure accurate dosing of vitamin-mineral premix, taurine, amino acids and preservatives.
- Maintain batch records, traceability and CCP logs audit-ready at all times.

Maintenance, Cost & Team

- Drive preventive and breakdown maintenance on fillers, seamers, retorts and packing machines; troubleshoot stoppages on the floor.
- Track and improve cost per MT for material, packaging, utilities and manpower productivity.

Candidate Requirements

Must have

- Engineering or Food Technology background.
- 14 years in a manufacturing or production management role.
- Experience in pet food, meat/poultry/seafood processing, or extrusion-based food manufacturing.
- Robust hands-on technical ability to diagnose at the machine, not only review reports.
- Proven experience in vendor development and commercial negotiation.
- Working knowledge of HACCP, GMP and food safety documentation.
- Fully comfortable handling meat and animal-origin raw materials daily.
- Clear, direct communication in [English / Hindi] with both management and shop floor teams.
- Maturity and composure to run the plant independently under tight dispatch deadlines.
