Position Summary The Head Nursing Services is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational management of the nursing department across all hospital units. The role ensures delivery of high-quality patient care, nursing excellence, patient safety, and adherence to hospital policies and clinical standards. The position oversees nursing staff across all clinical areas including wards, ICUs, operation theatres, emergency departments, and outpatient services, ensuring efficient nursing practices, staff development, and compliance with hospital quality and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Nursing Leadership & Administration

- Lead and manage nursing services across all hospital units.
- Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and clinical care protocols.
- Ensure delivery of safe, ethical, and patient-centered nursing care.
- Supervise nursing supervisors, ward in-charges, and nursing staff.

1. Clinical Nursing Management

- Ensure appropriate nursing care standards across wards, ICUs, emergency, operation theatres, and other clinical areas.
- Monitor patient care quality and adherence to nursing care plans.
- Ensure proper documentation of nursing records and patient care notes.
- Coordinate with doctors and other clinical teams for effective patient care.

1. Nursing Manpower Planning

- Plan and manage nursing staff deployment and shift scheduling.
- Ensure adequate nurse-to-patient ratios across all clinical departments.
- Participate in recruitment, selection, and onboarding of nursing staff.
- Monitor staff attendance, performance, and discipline.

1. Training & Professional Development





- Organize continuous nursing education programs, training sessions, and skill development workshops.
- Ensure competency-based training for nursing staff.
- Facilitate orientation programs for new nursing recruits.
- Encourage participation in clinical research, seminars, and academic activities.

1. Patient Safety & Quality Assurance

- Ensure compliance with hospital quality standards and patient safety protocols.
- Participate in clinical audits, infection control activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Monitor nursing-sensitive indicators such as medication errors, falls, infection rates, and pressure ulcers.
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control guidelines.

1. Infection Control & Hygiene

- Work closely with the Infection Control Committee to maintain high standards of infection prevention.
- Ensure proper compliance with hand hygiene, sterilization, and patient care protocols.
- Monitor infection control practices within nursing units.

1. Coordination with Medical & Operational Departments

- Collaborate with medical services, operations, and administration teams to ensure productive patient care.
- Coordinate with departments such as pharmacy, diagnostics, housekeeping, and biomedical services.
- Participate in hospital management meetings and operational planning.

1. Policy Implementation & Compliance

- Implement hospital policies and clinical guidelines within the nursing department.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, nursing council standards, and hospital accreditation requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation, nursing records, and departmental reports.
