About The Job:

- Develop a concept for virtual machine patching across Azure and AWS. Responsible for assessing the current VM estate, defining target-state patching architecture, identifying technical and operational requirements, and creating a governance model that enables consistent, secure, and auditable patching for Windows and Linux virtual machines across both cloud providers.

Essential Job Functions:

- Develop the target-state concept for VM patching across Azure and AWS.
- Assess the existing Azure VM and AWS EC2 estate, including operating systems, ownership, criticality, connectivity, and current patching configuration.
- Define provider-specific and cross-provider patching patterns using either 3 rd party tooling or Azure Update Manager, AWS Systems Manager Patch Manager, maintenance configurations, patch baselines, and maintenance windows.
- Identify prerequisites for patching, including agents, permissions, network connectivity, repository access, tagging, inventory data, and operating system support.
- Define a governance model for patch ownership, scheduling, approval rules, exception handling, reboot behavior, emergency patching, and compliance reporting.
- Design standard patching groups based on environment, workload criticality, operating system, business application, maintenance window, and operational ownership.
- Evaluate whether patching should be executed through provider-native services, a central orchestration layer, or a hybrid operating model.
- Define reporting requirements for patch compliance, missing updates, failed deployments, unsupported operating systems, and overdue remediation.




- Identify integration requirements with CMDB, asset inventory, monitoring, SIEM, vulnerability management, incident management, and change management processes.
- Define rollout approach, migration path, pilot scope, operational handover, and acceptance criteria for the patching concept.
- Document risks, assumptions, dependencies, constraints, and decision points for implementation.
- Act as subject matter expert for VM patching architecture across Azure, AWS, Windows Server, and Linux environments.
