Role & Responsibilities:
- Lead the Wind Resource Assessment (WRA) function for wind projects from initial site assessment through project development.
- Conduct and review detailed wind resource assessment and wind data analysis for potential and existing wind project sites.
- Analyse data from Met Masts, LiDAR and SoDAR including data quality, availability, consistency and measurement uncertainty.
- Perform wind data validation, cleaning, correlation and long-term correction/MCP analysis.
- Develop and review wind resource maps, wind roses, Weibull distribution, wind shear and turbulence analysis.
- Carry out wind flow modelling and micrositing for WTG placement considering terrain, roughness, obstacles, wake effects and site constraints.
- Evaluate and optimize WTG layouts based on wind resource, technical constraints, land availability and energy yield.
- Conduct AEP and energy yield assessment, including wake, availability, electrical, environmental and other applicable losses.
- Prepare/review WRA reports, energy yield reports, technical feasibility reports and supporting project documentation.
- Work with WindPRO, WAsP, OpenWind, GIS and other relevant WRA/software platforms for modelling and analysis.
- Review KML/KMZ, GIS layers, topographical data, site boundaries, WTG coordinates and project layouts.
- Support project teams in site suitability assessment, WTG selection, micrositing and project feasibility studies.
- Establish standard methodologies, templates, WRA SOPs and quality-control procedures for in-house WRA activities.
- Develop and maintain wind-resource databases and project-wise WRA records.
- Review WRA studies prepared by external consultants and technically validate their assumptions, methodology and conclusions.
- Coordinate with Project Development, Engineering, Land, GIS, Electrical,
Commercial and Senior Management teams for project evaluation.
- Coordinate with WRA consultants, measurement agencies and technology/software providers.
- Identify data gaps, modelling risks and technical uncertainties and recommend corrective actions.
- Build and strengthen in-house WRA capability, including processes, tools, technical standards and team development.
- Provide technical inputs for project feasibility, investment decisions, WTG technology selection and project development planning.
- Travel to wind project sites across India as required.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- 8+ years of relevant experience in Wind Resource Assessment / Wind Energy.
- Robust hands-on experience in WRA, wind data analysis, wind-flow modelling, micrositing and AEP assessment.
- Experience with Met Mast, LiDAR and/or SoDAR data analysis.
- Strong understanding of MCP, wind shear, turbulence intensity, Weibull analysis, wind rose and long-term wind assessment.
- Hands-on experience with WindPRO, WAsP, OpenWind or equivalent WRA software.
- Experience in WTG micrositing, layout optimization, wake analysis and energy yield assessment.
- Strong understanding of terrain, orography, roughness, obstacles and wind-flow characteristics.
- Experience working with GIS, KML/KMZ, site boundaries and WTG coordinates.
- Experience preparing and reviewing WRA, feasibility and energy-yield reports.
- Experience in evaluating and technically reviewing third-party WRA consultant reports.
- Exposure to wind project development and site feasibility will be preferred.
- Ability to independently lead WRA assignments and build in-house WRA processes and capabilities.
- Strong analytical, technical-reporting and stakeholder-management skills.
- Willingness to travel to Pan-India wind project sites as required.
