Job Purpose / Summary The Manager / Senior Manager – Finance & Accounts is responsible for the accurate, timely and compliant execution of core finance operations — including month-end close, reconciliations, taxation, and accounts payable/receivable — for their area of responsibility.

This is a hands-on leadership role: the incumbent supervises a team of accountants and finance executives, ensures day-to-day processes run smoothly and controls are consistently followed, and provides the leadership team with reliable, well-supported financial information.

Working closely with the GM – Finance & Accounts, the role holder translates group finance policy into consistent day-to-day practice, resolves operational issues as they arise, and drives continuous improvement in accuracy, compliance and efficiency.

The ideal candidate is a qualified accountant (CA/CPA) with strong, hands-on experience across core accounting functions, who is equally comfortable managing a team and staying close to the detail.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting

Execute the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close process for assigned entities/functions, meeting agreed deadlines and accuracy standards.

Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepayments, provisions and intercompany postings ahead of GM sign-off.

Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring open items are aged, tracked and resolved in a timely manner.

Prepare accurate P&L;, balance sheet and cash flow statements with supporting schedules for management review.

Support the GM – Finance & Accounts in preparing leadership and management reporting packs.

Ensure accounting entries and documentation comply with applicable accounting standards and group policy.

Budgeting & Forecasting

Support the annual budgeting and periodic reforecasting process, coordinating inputs from department and cost-centre owners.

Prepare monthly budget-vs-actual and forecast-vs-actual variance reports, with clear root-cause commentary.

Track key financial and operational metrics, flagging risks, cost overruns and opportunities to the GM in a timely manner.

Assist with cash flow monitoring and working capital tracking, escalating funding requirements as needed.

Taxation & Compliance

Manage timely preparation, review and filing of direct and indirect tax returns (income tax, GST/VAT, TDS/withholding tax) in coordination with external advisors.

Ensure accurate tax provisioning, reconciliation of tax accounts, and maintenance of supporting documentation.

Support statutory and regulatory compliance activity, including statutory filings, registers and the compliance calendar.

Respond to routine tax queries, notices and audit requests, escalating complex matters to the GM/CFO.

Stay current on changes in tax and regulatory requirements relevant to the entity's operations.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

Oversee end-to-end AP operations — vendor invoice processing, three-way matching, approvals and payment runs — ensuring adherence to delegated authority.

Oversee AR operations including invoicing, collections and cash application, driving improvement in DSO and reduction of overdue balances.

Maintain accurate AP/AR ageing and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items and disputes.

Monitor vendor and customer master data integrity, including controls over changes to banking details.

Audit & Internal Controls

Coordinate with statutory and internal auditors — preparing schedules, responding to queries and closing out action points on time.

Support the GM in maintaining and testing internal controls, the risk and controls matrix, and segregation of duties.

Ensure a clean, well-documented audit trail from source data through to reported results.

Identify and remediate control gaps within own area of responsibility, escalating systemic issues to the GM.

Team Management & Process Improvement

Supervise, coach and develop a team of accountants/finance executives, setting clear priorities and reviewing quality of output.

Allocate work, monitor performance and build team capability to support growing business needs.

Drive standardisation,

automation and continuous improvement of finance processes and SOPs.

Ensure finance policies and procedures are correctly understood and consistently applied across the team.

Act as a key point of contact for cross-functional stakeholders on day-to-day finance matters.

Key Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

Strong working knowledge of accounting standards and their practical application.

Hands-on experience with month-end close, reconciliations and financial statement preparation.

Working knowledge of direct and indirect taxation and statutory compliance requirements.

Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel; exposure to BI/reporting tools is an advantage.

Sound understanding of internal controls, audit processes and revenue/cost reconciliation.

Soft Skills & Behavioural Competencies

Solid people management and coaching skills, with the ability to lead and develop a small-to-mid-sized team.

High attention to detail and accuracy, with a structured, process-driven approach to work.

A strong ownership mindset and the ability to work independently within defined policy.

Effective communicator, able to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.

Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, growing organisation with evolving processes.

Sound judgement in escalating issues to senior management at the right time.

Qualifications & Experience

MANDATORY PREREQUISITE – NON-NEGOTIABLE

Candidates must hold a Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification. This is a strict must-have for this role — applications without CA/CPA qualification will not be considered.

Required Qualifications

Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) — mandatory (see prerequisite above).

Experience

6–9 years of post-qualification experience in core accounting/finance roles.

Demonstrated experience supervising and developing a finance team.

Hands-on experience across month-end close, taxation, compliance, and AP/AR operations.

Prior experience in a multi-entity, fast-growing, or dynamic organisation is preferred.

Working exposure to ERP systems and statutory audit processes required.
