We are hiring a Mainframe DBA / Migration Engineer with robust hands-on expertise in IMS and DB2 z/OS to support mission-critical banking applications and drive legacy modernization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer IMS FF, FP and DB2 z/OS databases across tens of thousands of instances
- Drive application migration from z/OS to PostgreSQL
- Optimize and fine-tune AXP database and OS Data Sharing complexes
- Convert legacy VSAM tablespaces to Universal Table Space (UTS) for petabyte-scale growth and zDb2 V13 readiness
- Enable high availability and automated database reorganization procedures
- Create, sync, and refresh IMS & DB2 Data Warehouse databases (Dev/Test/Prod)
- Maintain procedural documentation, mentor junior DBAs
- Use BMC Change Manager,
IBM Data Studio, IBM Visual Studio for LIFT & SHIFT automation
Must-Have Skills:
- IMS DB (Fast Path & Full Function)
- DB2 z/OS (V11/V12/V13)
- DB2 utilities — REORG, RUNSTATS, IMAGECOPY, RECOVER
- Performance tuning / access path optimization
- Data Sharing (AXP) complexes
- Backup / Recovery / DR
- JCL, REXX, SQL
- BMC & IBM utilities for IMS/DB2 z/OS
Good-to-Have:
- PostgreSQL migration experience
- UTS / VSAM tablespace conversion
- BMC Change Manager, IBM Data Studio
- Data Warehouse database management
- Mainframe modernization / legacy migration
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in CS / IT / Information Management or related field
- 6–10 years of mainframe DBA experience
- Strong communication, documentation, and mentoring skills
