About The Role We are seeking a skilled Backend Java Engineer to join our Sustainment & Enhancement Squad at Samay Consulting. This role is primarily support-heavy, with 70% of the responsibilities focused on maintaining and troubleshooting existing systems, and 30% dedicated to development activities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting integrations with Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS, ensuring seamless operation and timely resolution of production issues. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professionals with a solid background in Java and Spring Boot to contribute to critical backend systems in a dynamic, work from home environment.

Qualifications The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 4 to 7 years of experience in Java backend development and production support. Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot is essential, along with hands-on experience working with Kafka, including real-time streaming and event-driven architectures.

A strong understanding of REST APIs,



service-to-service communication, and distributed backend systems is required. Candidates should have solid SQL skills and experience troubleshooting complex production issues. Familiarity with application logs, monitoring tools, and root cause analysis techniques is important.

Knowledge of cloud platforms and DevOps practices will be considered an advantage. The ability to work independently, escalate issues appropriately, and participate in shared on-call rotations is crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities Develop a comprehensive understanding of Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS, including its APIs, integration points, and associated upstream and downstream services. Monitor, troubleshoot, and support the integration points with Oracle Retail Cloud MFCS and related backend systems.

Analyze logs, database queries, API responses, and Kafka events to identify and resolve production issues efficiently. Conduct root cause analysis for incidents, implement permanent fixes, and ensure issues do not recur. Maintain and enhance existing Java and Spring Boot applications through bug fixes, minor enhancements, and performance tuning.

Develop and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure system robustness and reliability. Follow best practices for coding, documentation, and monitoring,



contributing to the overall quality of engineering deliverables. Collaborate closely with Level 3 support, lead engineers, and cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical issues and implement architectural improvements.

Participate actively in on-call support, ensuring timely communication, tracking, and escalation of production incidents. Maintain a proactive approach towards system stability, performance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
