Role & responsibilities To implement, monitor, and maintain infection prevention and control practices across the hospital, ensuring compliance with hospital policies, standard precautions, and applicable infection control standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Monitor compliance with infection prevention and control policies and practices across all clinical and support areas.

- Conduct regular infection control rounds and surveillance in wards, ICU, OT, ER, Cath Lab, CTVS, Oncology, BMT, and other high-risk areas.

- Monitor and document Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs) and support infection surveillance activities.

- Ensure compliance with hand hygiene practices, including observation, audit, and staff awareness.

- Monitor appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and standard/transmission-based precautions.

- Conduct audits related to Biomedical Waste Management, segregation, collection, and disposal.

- Monitor cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and environmental hygiene practices.

- Ensure proper sterilization and disinfection practices in OT, procedure areas, and other clinical departments.

- Participate in monitoring CSSD practices, sterilization indicators, and infection prevention measures.

- Assist in investigation and reporting of infection outbreaks and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.

- Coordinate with nursing, medical, housekeeping, CSSD, laboratory, and other departments regarding infection control issues.





- Conduct infection control training and awareness sessions for nurses, doctors, technicians, housekeeping staff, and other healthcare workers.

- Educate patients and attendants regarding hand hygiene, isolation precautions, respiratory hygiene, and prevention of infections.

- Monitor compliance with isolation precautions and appropriate patient placement.

- Participate in antimicrobial stewardship activities and coordinate with concerned departments as required.

- Maintain infection control records, audit reports, surveillance data, and training documentation.

- Report identified gaps/non-compliances to the concerned department and follow up on corrective actions.

- Assist in preparation of reports and presentations for the Infection Control Committee.

- Participate in hospital infection control meetings, quality initiatives, and accreditation-related activities.

- Ensure adherence to hospital safety, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements.

- Perform any other infection control-related duties assigned by the reporting authority.
