Description

The AWS Cloud Platform Engineer supports cloud platform, migration, and application teams with hands-on AWS engineering expertise. The role focuses on designing, improving, operating, and troubleshooting AWS-based platforms with strong emphasis on EKS lifecycle management, AWS networking, Route 53, RBAC/IAM, GitLab CI/CD pipelines, GitOps with ArgoCD, Infrastructure as Code, automation, observability, capacity planning, governance, security, and FinOps. The engineer is expected to build reusable platform patterns, improve operational reliability, automate cloud delivery, and ensure that AWS solutions are secure, reliable, cost-aware, automated, and maintainable.

Key Responsibilities

- AWS Cloud Architecture &
- Consulting:

Design, review, and improve AWS platform architectures, including landing zones, account structures, VPC design, connectivity, IAM/RBAC models, Route 53, EKS platforms, and integrations with on-premise and shared enterprise services. Provide hands-on consulting to application and platform teams on secure, scalable, and cost-effective AWS patterns.

- AWS Well-Architected &

- Governance:

Lead AWS Well-Architected reviews and provide recommendations across operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, cost optimization, and sustainability. Support multi-account governance using landing zones, AWS Organizations, control policies, account guardrails, tagging standards, centralized logging, and reusable governance patterns.

- AWS Observability &

- Reliability:





Improve reliability of AWS and EKS-based workloads through effective monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, and incident response practices. Define and improve observability patterns using AWS-native and Kubernetes-focused tooling, and support teams in troubleshooting production issues using metrics, logs, dashboards, and alerts.

- EKS Lifecycle, Operations &

- Troubleshooting:

Manage and improve production-grade EKS clusters across their lifecycle, including upgrades, patching, node groups, add-ons, ingress, networking, security boundaries, RBAC, workload placement, and cluster capacity.

Troubleshoot

Kubernetes and AWS integration issues and drive continuous platform improvement.

- GitLab CI/CD &

- GitOps:

Design, implement, and improve GitLab CI/CD pipelines, runners, reusable templates, approval flows, and secure deployment workflows.

Establish

GitOps-based delivery with ArgoCD and Helm so that application and infrastructure changes are traceable, auditable, and consistently reconciled from Git to AWS/EKS environments.

- Infrastructure as Code &

- Configuration Management:

Lead and improve Terraform-based AWS infrastructure delivery, including reusable modules, county management, review practices, and CI/CD integration.



Use Ansible where appropriate for configuration management and operational automation, ensuring infrastructure changes are automated, repeatable, traceable, and aligned with standards.

- Automation, Python &

- Tooling:

Develop and maintain automation with Python, Ansible, GitLab APIs, AWS SDK/CLI, and operational scripts. Reduce manual effort by standardizing recurring tasks such as reporting, validation, provisioning support, troubleshooting assistance, and platform maintenance.

- Capacity Planning, FinOps &

- Cost Optimization:

Analyze AWS and EKS capacity, resource utilization, service quotas, node group sizing, storage, and network requirements.

Support

FinOps practices by identifying cost drivers, recommending optimization opportunities, improving tagging and reporting, and balancing reliability, scalability, and total cost of ownership.

- AWS Security, IAM &

- RBAC:

Design and review AWS IAM, SSO, role assumption, permission boundaries, Kubernetes RBAC, pod identity, and least-privilege access patterns. Support secure access models for application teams while maintaining strong guardrails for production environments.

- Collaboration, Advisory &

- Knowledge Sharing:

Work closely with architecture, operations, security, networking, and application teams to align AWS solutions with business, compliance, reliability, and operational requirements. Document reference architectures, pipeline patterns, runbooks, standards, and troubleshooting guidance for broader team adoption.
