Role & responsibilities :-
Senior Manager Internal Audit
Job Purpose The role will be responsible for managing internal audit, financial controls, project finance review, project cost monitoring, risk assessment and compliance across projects/business units. The position will work closely with Finance, Projects, Commercial, Procurement and Business teams to identify financial and operational risks and strengthen controls.
Key Responsibilities
1. Internal Audit
- Develop and execute risk-based internal audit plans covering projects, business functions and operating units.
- Conduct audits of project finance, procurement, contracts, revenue, expenses, inventory, fixed assets and working capital.
- Review adequacy and effectiveness of internal financial and operational controls.
- Identify control gaps, process inefficiencies, financial leakages and potential compliance risks.
- Prepare detailed audit reports highlighting observations, risk implications and recommendations.
- Track corrective actions and closure of audit observations.
- Conduct special audits / investigations as required by management.
1. Project Finance
- Review financial feasibility and financial models for current and ongoing projects.
- Analyse project budgets, cost estimates, cash flows, funding requirements and projected returns.
- Monitor project cost against approved budgets and investigate significant variances.
- Review project funding, debt utilisation, interest costs and repayment schedules.
- Support evaluation of project financing proposals and funding structures.
- Review financial covenants, lender requirements and compliance with financing agreements.
- Monitor project cash flows and working-capital requirements.
1. Project Cost & Commercial Review
- Review project contracts, purchase orders, work orders and major vendor arrangements from a financial/control perspective.
- Analyse project cost overruns, delays, claims, variations and change orders.
- Review procurement processes and vendor payments for compliance with approved terms.
- Validate project expenditure against budgets, contracts and approvals.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimisation and financial controls.
1. Risk & Controls
- Identify key financial, operational and project risks.
- Design and recommend appropriate internal controls and risk mitigation measures.
- Review SOPs, delegation of authority and approval mechanisms.
- Support implementation of internal control frameworks and process improvements.
- Coordinate with statutory auditors, lenders and other external stakeholders wherever required.
1. MIS & Management Reporting
- Prepare periodic project finance and internal audit dashboards.
- Present key audit findings, financial risks, project cost variances and action plans to senior management.
- Develop financial and operational KPIs for monitoring project performance.
- Provide management with analysis and recommendations based on audit and financial findings.
Candidate Profile
Qualification
- CA
- Candidates with relevant finance, audit or project finance qualifications may also be considered.
Experience
- 10-15 years of relevant experience in Internal Audit, Project Finance, Project Controls, Corporate Finance or Financial Risk.
- Experience in project-based industries such as infrastructure, EPC, real estate, manufacturing, renewable energy, power, roads, construction or engineering will be preferred.
Preferred candidate profile :-CA with 10-15 years of experience in internal audit.
