Job Summary

A Test Automation Architect is responsible for defining the organization’s automation strategy, designing scalable test frameworks, and ensuring automated testing is integrated effectively across the software development lifecycle. The role combines technical leadership, hands-on framework development, CI/CD enablement, quality governance, and team mentoring.

The architect ensures that testing is maintainable, reusable, risk-based, cost-effective, and aligned with business and engineering objectives. Current role expectations commonly include shift-left testing, framework governance, testability, continuous integration, quality metrics, and technical coaching.

Key Responsibilities

Define and evolve the overall test automation strategy and architecture.

- Design scalable, modular, reusable, and maintainable automation frameworks.
- Select and evaluate appropriate tools, technologies, programming languages, and test approaches.
- Establish automation standards, coding guidelines, design patterns, and review practices.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based delivery platforms.
- Promote shift-left testing by embedding quality and testability into requirements, design,



and development.
- Implement automation across UI, API, integration, database, component, end-to-end, performance, and service-level testing.
- Define risk-based test coverage, quality gates, traceability, and automation objectives.
- Improve test execution speed, reliability, reporting, observability, and defect feedback.
- Identify flaky tests, framework bottlenecks, workplace issues, test-data problems, and automation gaps.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to QA engineers, developers, and automation teams.
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, developers, DevOps, security, and business stakeholders.
- Govern shared automation assets, reusable libraries, test environments, and automation infrastructure.
- Support proof-of-concepts and the introduction of emerging testing tools and technologies.
- Track quality metrics such as coverage, pass rate, defect leakage, execution time, flakiness, and maintenance cost.

Skill Requirements

Primary: Java, TypeScript Playwright, CI/CD methodology, Testing Automation.

Secondary: Banking testing knowledge will be an added advantage.
