We are seeking an experienced and technically robust Golang Technical Lead with 8 years of backend software development experience to lead the design, development, and evolution of scalable and highly reliable backend systems.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Golang and Python, with deep experience building distributed systems, RESTful APIs, and microservices. You will provide technical leadership across the engineering team, drive architecture and design decisions, and work closely with engineering, product, DevOps, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role that combines software development with architecture, technical decision-making, mentoring, and ownership of complex engineering initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Provide technical leadership and direction for backend engineering initiatives and complex projects.
- Drive architecture discussions and make informed technology and design decisions considering scalability, performance, reliability, security, and maintainability.
- Define and promote engineering best practices, design patterns, coding standards, and development methodologies.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement across systems and proactively address them.
- Evaluate new technologies and approaches and recommend solutions that improve engineering productivity and product capabilities.
Backend Development:
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services using Go (Golang) and Python.
- Build scalable and reliable RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Design and implement distributed systems capable of handling high scale, availability, and performance requirements.
- Work extensively with PostgreSQL and Redis, including data modeling, query optimization, caching strategies, and performance tuning.
- Develop applications using Docker and manage containerized workloads using Kubernetes.
- Write clean, maintainable, testable, and production-ready code while remaining hands-on with critical technical areas.
Cloud & Infrastructure
- Design and deploy backend services on AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Work with services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, S3, RDS, IAM, and other relevant AWS services.
- Partner with DevOps/platform teams to improve deployment, observability, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Contribute to the design and improvement of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
- Drive best practices around monitoring, logging, alerting, capacity planning, and production readiness.
Engineering Excellence
- Lead technical troubleshooting and resolution of complex production, performance, scalability, and reliability issues.
- Conduct and drive effective code reviews and design reviews.
- Establish appropriate testing strategies, including unit, integration, and system testing.
- Continuously identify and address technical debt and opportunities to improve system quality and engineering efficiency.
- Ensure solutions adhere to security, reliability, scalability, and maintainability standards.
Mentoring & Collaboration
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers, helping them grow their technical capabilities.
- Raise the overall engineering bar through knowledge sharing, design discussions, code reviews, and technical mentorship.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, DevOps, QA, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Break down complex problems into actionable technical plans and help teams execute them effectively.
- Influence technical decisions across teams and drive alignment on architecture and engineering practices.
Delivery & Ownership
- Take end-to-end technical ownership of major features and engineering initiatives, from requirements and design through implementation, deployment, and production support.
- Work with engineering leadership and product teams to estimate, prioritize, and plan technical initiatives.
- Ensure timely delivery while maintaining high standards of engineering quality.
- Proactively communicate technical progress, risks, trade-offs, and dependencies to relevant stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- 8 years of professional software development experience, with significant experience in backend engineering.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Golang and Python.
- Strong experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, service-oriented architectures, and scalable backend design.
- Robust experience with PostgreSQL and Redis, including database design, query optimization, and caching.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong experience with AWS cloud services, such as EC2, ECS/EKS, S3, RDS, IAM, and related services.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD practices and automated software delivery.
- Experience with system design, architecture, performance optimization, scalability, and reliability engineering.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, testing methodologies, code quality, and engineering best practices.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical and production issues.
- Robust communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and influence technical decisions across teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- B.E./B.Tech. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
- Experience with observability and monitoring platforms, distributed tracing, logging, and performance monitoring.
- Experience with messaging/event-driven architectures and technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar systems.
- Experience with security best practices for APIs, microservices, cloud infrastructure, and data.
- Experience leading large or cross-functional technical initiatives.
- Experience in an Agile/Scrum engineering environment.
- Contributions to engineering standards, architecture frameworks, or technical communities are a plus.
