Key Stakeholders: CMD, Finance Leadership, AR, AP, Tax & Compliance, Treasury/Funding, FP&A;, Operations, Procurement, Projects and External Auditors
Role Purpose The Finance Controller Closing & Reporting will be responsible for ensuring accurate, complete and timely financial closure and reporting across Redbrick Offices pan-India operations.
The role will own the monthly, quarterly and annual book-closing process, maintain the integrity of the General Ledger and Balance Sheet, ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, and provide reliable financial statements and management reports to senior leadership.
The incumbent will work closely with AR, AP, Taxation, Treasury, FP&A; and business teams to ensure that all financial information is accurately captured, reconciled and reported within defined timelines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Closing & General Ledger
- Own the monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing process across entities, centres and cost centres.
- Establish and manage a detailed month-end closure calendar with clear ownership and timelines.
- Target completion of monthly financial closure within T+5 to T+7 working days.
- Review the General Ledger and ensure completeness and accuracy of accounting entries.
- Review journal entries, accruals, provisions, prepaid expenses, depreciation, revenue recognition and other closing adjustments.
- Ensure all material income and expenses are accounted for in the appropriate reporting period.
- Review unusual, exceptional and manual journal entries before closure.
- Ensure appropriate cut-off procedures for revenue, expenses, purchases and liabilities.
- Identify and resolve long-outstanding or incorrectly classified GL balances.
- Maintain appropriate maker-checker controls throughout the closure process.
1. Financial Statements & Reporting
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of:
- Profit & Loss Account
- Balance Sheet
- Cash Flow Statement
- Trial Balance
- Supporting schedules and reconciliations
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting packs for senior management.
- Ensure consistency between books of accounts, financial statements, MIS and other management reports.
- Review Month-on-Month, Quarter-on-Quarter and Year-on-Year movements and investigate material variations.
- Provide clear explanations for significant accounting and financial movements.
- Support management reporting on revenue, EBITDA, operating costs, working capital and other key financial indicators.
- Ensure financial information presented to management is complete, accurate and supported by underlying records.
1. Balance Sheet Reconciliation & Control
- Own and review the monthly Balance Sheet reconciliation process.

- Investigate ageing and long-outstanding balances and drive closure with responsible teams.
- Ensure no unsupported or unexplained balances are carried forward without appropriate review and approval.
1. Revenue & • Expense Accounting
- Review revenue recognition for licence fees/rent, managed-service charges, utilities, parking, ancillary services and other operating revenue relevant to the managed-office business.
- Ensure appropriate accounting of billed, unbilled, accrued and deferred revenue.
- Review major expense accruals and provisions to ensure completeness of liabilities.
- Ensure correct accounting treatment of security deposits, rent, CAM, utilities, fit-out/project expenditure and centre operating expenses.
- Review significant credit notes, write-offs, waivers and accounting adjustments from a financial-reporting perspective.
- Coordinate with AR and AP teams to ensure sub-ledgers are fully reconciled with the General Ledger before closure.
1. Fixed Assets & • Capitalisation
- Review the Fixed Asset Register and ensure reconciliation with the General Ledger.
- Ensure correct accounting for asset additions, capitalisation, transfers, depreciation, impairment, disposal and retirement.
- Review accounting and capitalisation of new-centre fit-out and refurbishment expenditure.
- Ensure appropriate classification between capital expenditure and operating expenditure.
- Coordinate with Projects, Procurement and AP for timely financial closure and capitalisation of completed projects.
1. Accounting Standards & • Policies
- Ensure financial reporting complies with applicable Ind AS, Companies Act requirements and company accounting policies.
- Ensure consistent application of accounting policies across entities and operating centres.
- Review accounting treatment for complex or non-routine transactions.
- Prepare and maintain accounting position papers and supporting documentation wherever required.
- Keep the organisation updated on relevant changes in accounting standards and their financial impact.
1. Audit & • Statutory Reporting
- Act as a key finance coordinator for statutory audit, internal audit and other financial reviews.
- Prepare financial statements, schedules, reconciliations and supporting documents required by auditors.
- Ensure audit queries are responded to accurately and within agreed timelines.
- Coordinate with AR, AP, Tax, Treasury and other finance teams for audit requirements.
- Track audit observations and ensure timely closure of accounting and reporting-related observations.
- Minimise post-closure and post-audit adjustments through stronger monthly review processes.
1. Internal Financial Controls
- Strengthen financial controls relating to book closure, GL accounting, journal entries, reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Ensure material transactions are appropriately supported, authorised and recorded.
- Identify accounting/control gaps and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct periodic GL scrutiny and exception-based reviews.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and audit trails supporting financial transactions.
- Ensure adherence to approved finance SOPs, accounting policies and delegated authority matrices.
1. ERP, Automation & • Process Improvement
- Drive standardisation of closing and reporting processes across centres and entities.
- Improve ERP-based accounting and reduce dependence on manual workings.
- Automate repetitive reconciliations, schedules and financial reports wherever feasible.
- Improve the accuracy and turnaround time of financial information.
- Strengthen controls over chart of accounts, cost centres and accounting masters.
- Support ERP/system enhancements impacting accounting, closure and reporting.
1. Team & • Cross-Functional Coordination
- Lead and develop the Closing, GL & • Reporting team.
- Define clear KRAs, closing responsibilities and review mechanisms.
- Work closely with AR, AP, Tax & • Compliance, Treasury/Funding and FP&A; teams to ensure timely availability of closure inputs.
- Coordinate with Operations, Procurement, Projects and other business functions for accounting and reconciliation matters.
- Drive accountability for delays or incomplete information impacting financial closure.
- Build a culture of accuracy, timeliness, ownership and financial discipline.

Candidate Profile
- Chartered Accountant (CA) Mandatory.
- Approximately 10–15 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
- Strong hands-on experience in financial controllership, General Ledger, book closure, consolidation and financial reporting.
- Experience working in an organisation with approximately 500–1,000+ Cr turnover or comparable scale/complexity preferred.
- Experience handling multi-location, multi-entity or multi-cost-centre operations.
- Strong knowledge of Ind AS, Companies Act requirements, financial statements, revenue recognition and internal financial controls.
- Strong experience in Balance Sheet reviews and reconciliations.
- Demonstrated experience managing monthly/quarterly/year-end closing under stringent timelines.
- Experience leading statutory audits and working directly with external auditors.
- Advanced knowledge of ERP/accounting systems and MS Excel; exposure to BI/reporting tools would be advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with an ability to identify accounting inconsistencies and control gaps.
- Strong stakeholder-management skills and ability to coordinate across multiple finance and business functions.
Preferred Industry Background Candidates from Managed Offices / Co-working, Commercial Real Estate, Hospitality, Facilities Management, Retail, Infrastructure or other multi-location/high-transaction service businesses will be preferred. This aligns with the broader industry profile specified in the existing Financial Controller JD.
