Job Title: Fashion Designer – Indian Ethnic Wear

Position Overview

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Fashion Designer – Men's Indian Ethnic Wear to lead and support the design development of our high-end ethnic couture and occasionwear collections. The ideal candidate will combine a deep understanding of traditional Indian craftsmanship, silhouettes, and intricate embellishments with a contemporary design perspective. You will be responsible for taking garments from initial concept and mood boards through digital draping, pattern development, embroidery design, fitting, and final execution.

Key Responsibilities

1. Concept Development & Trend Research

Conduct seasonal trend research, focusing on silhouettes, color forecasting, traditional textiles, and evolving occasionwear markets. Develop mood boards, color palettes, and theme concepts for festive, bridal, and luxury ethnic collections. Formulate unique design stories integrating heritage Indian motifs with contemporary aesthetics.

2. Design & Technical Execution

Create detailed hand/digital sketches in Procreate and flat technical CADs using Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop. Utilize CLO 3D for 3D garment visualization, digital draping, pattern testing, and virtual sample iteration.

Draft comprehensive technical spec sheets and tech packs, detailing garment measurements, stitching callouts, and finishing details.

Develop intricate embroidery layouts (such as Zardozi, Aari, Resham, and stone/beadwork) and specify thread, stone, and motif details.

3. Patternmaking, Draping & Fittings

Collaborate with master patternmakers and drapers to translate 2D concepts and 3D CLO simulations into physical garments (e.g., tailored jackets, draped skirts, cowl necklines, and structured outerwear).





Conduct fitting sessions, analyze garment fit and drape on dress forms or models, and communicate necessary pattern adjustments to the sampling team.

Oversee toile creation and initial sample construction to ensure precision in proportions and fluid drapes.

4. Sourcing & Material Selection

Source high-quality textiles, including handlooms, silks, organzas, velvets, and specialized brocades, from textile mills and vendors.

Maintain an organized studio library of fabrics, trims, laces, buttons, and embroidery swatches (khakas).

5. Production & Studio Management

Coordinate closely with in-house artisans, tailors, embroiderers, and external vendors to ensure timely sample development.

Quality check finished samples and production pieces for embroidery precision, fabric integrity, and finishing standards.

Assist in preparing garments and styling for campaign shoots, lookbooks, and runway/exhibition presentations.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Fashion Design or Textile Design from a recognized fashion institute.
- Experience: 2–5 years of specialized experience in Indian ethnic wear, occasionwear, or couture design.
- Software Skills: High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop), Procreate, and CLO 3D (or equivalent 3D fashion design software).
- Craft Knowledge: Deep understanding of traditional Indian embroidery techniques, fabric varieties, surface ornamentation, and regional textile heritage.
- Technical Ability: Strong grasp of pattern cutting, 3D visualization, garment specs, draping principles, and tailored silhouettes.
- Attributes: Sharp eye for aesthetics, high attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced studio environment.

Pay: ₹9,468.29 - ₹20,000.00 per month
