Purpose of the Role

The Catering Manager will support the Senior Manager - Industrial Catering in ensuring the seamless delivery of catering services across plant facilities. The role is responsible for maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, employee satisfaction, operational efficiency, and cost control while ensuring compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Catering Operations Management

- Support the day-to-day management of catering operations across plant canteens, guest houses, and corporate events.
- Ensure timely, efficient, and consistent food service delivery across all locations.
- Monitor food production, service standards, hygiene practices, and operational performance.
- Drive adherence to standard recipes, portion control guidelines, and cost management measures.

Menu Planning & Food Quality

- Assist in planning and implementing balanced, nutritious, and cost-effective menus.
- Collaborate with kitchen teams and catering partners to maintain consistency in food quality, taste, and presentation.
- Conduct regular food quality assessments, tasting sessions, and user feedback reviews.
- Identify and implement opportunities to enhance employee dining experience and satisfaction.

Food Safety, Compliance & Audits

- Ensure compliance with FSSAI regulations, HACCP standards, and ISO 22000:2018 food safety requirements.
- Maintain all statutory records, documentation, and audit-related reports.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of audit observations.
- Drive adherence to hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety standards across catering facilities.

Vendor & Workforce Management

- Supervise catering vendor personnel and canteen staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Monitor vendor performance, service quality, and contractual compliance.
- Coordinate with employee unions and internal stakeholders to address meal-related feedback and operational concerns.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, discipline, accountability, and service excellence.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

- Prepare operational reports, consumption analyses, cost reports,



and management presentations.
- Analyse catering performance metrics and recommend improvements in service quality, efficiency, and cost optimisation.
- Support the implementation of best practices in industrial catering operations.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education

- B.Sc. in Hotel Management, Catering Technology, Hospitality Management, or related discipline (3-year degree programme).

Experience

- 3 to 10 years of experience in large-scale industrial, institutional, manufacturing, corporate, defence, healthcare, or educational catering operations.
- Experience managing high-volume catering services and food safety compliance frameworks is preferred.

Key Skills & Competencies

- Strong understanding of industrial and institutional catering operations.
- Working knowledge of FSSAI regulations, HACCP standards, and ISO 22000 food safety systems.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and operational reporting.
- Experience in vendor management and service performance monitoring.
- Strong stakeholder management and employee/union engagement capabilities.
- Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
