Job Summary:
The ETP In-Charge is responsible for the efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) to ensure proper treatment of wastewater generated from fish meal production. The role includes maintaining treated water quality as per applicable environmental standards, optimizing chemical and biological treatment processes, managing sludge, and ensuring smooth operation of all ETP equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor the complete ETP process, including collection tanks, equalization tanks, pH correction, coagulation, flocculation, DAF, biological treatment, clarifiers, filters, MBR/RO systems, and sludge handling equipment, as applicable.
- Monitor influent and treated water parameters such as pH, COD, BOD, TSS, oil & grease, ammonia, TDS, and other required parameters.
- Ensure treated effluent meets the applicable discharge or reuse requirements.
- Monitor and control chemical dosing, including coagulants, flocculants, acids, alkalis, and other treatment chemicals.
- Maintain proper biological conditions and monitor the performance of aeration systems and biological treatment units.
- Coordinate with production and maintenance departments to manage variations in effluent quantity and characteristics.
- Supervise ETP operators and ensure proper shift-wise operation and housekeeping.
- Maintain daily records of effluent flow, chemical consumption, power consumption, water quality, sludge generation, and equipment operation.
- Coordinate laboratory testing and take corrective action when treatment parameters are outside the required limits.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of pumps, blowers, agitators, DAF units,
filters, membranes, pipelines, and other ETP equipment.
- Plan preventive maintenance and coordinate with the maintenance team for breakdown repairs.
- Monitor sludge dewatering, storage, handling, and disposal as per approved procedures.
- Maintain chemical inventory and ensure the timely availability of required chemicals and consumables.
- Identify opportunities to reduce chemical, water, and power consumption and improve overall ETP efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, consent conditions, and internal environmental requirements.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly ETP operation and performance reports.
- Coordinate with external laboratories, environmental consultants, and regulatory authorities when required.
- Ensure safe handling of chemicals and proper use of PPE by all ETP personnel.
- Maintain good housekeeping and safety standards within the ETP area.
Qualifications:
- Diploma / B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biotechnology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in industrial ETP operation is preferred.
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, chemical dosing, biological treatment, DAF, MBR/RO systems, and sludge handling is an advantage.
Experience: Preferably 3–8 years of experience in operating and managing an industrial ETP, preferably in the fish meal, seafood processing, food processing, rendering, or similar high-strength wastewater industry.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
