Embedded Software Developer (Automotive / EV Motor Controller)
Job Summary
We are looking for an Embedded Software Developer with 3-7 years of experience to develop and maintain embedded software for automotive and e-mobility products. The candidate will work on low-level drivers,
communication protocols, application software, debugging, testing, and embedded system integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain embedded software using Embedded C/C++ for automotive applications.
- Develop and integrate MCU peripherals, drivers, and hardware interfaces.
- Work with CAN/CAN-FD, LIN, UART, SPI, I2C, PWM, ADC, GPIO, timers, and watchdogs.
- Implement and integrate application-level control algorithms and embedded functionalities.
- Develop and debug real-time software using interrupts, timers, RTOS/tasks, and scheduling concepts.
- Perform software integration, debugging, and issue resolution at bench, HIL, dyno, and vehicle level.
- Analyze software requirements and convert them into detailed software design and implementation.
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, debugging, and root-cause analysis.
- Use debugging and development tools such as Lauterbach, CANoe/CANalyzer, oscilloscopes, and MCU
toolchains.
- Implement diagnostic functions based on UDS / ISO 14229.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure compliance with MISRA C/C++ and project coding standards.
- Support static analysis, code quality, software verification, and requirements traceability.
- Maintain software requirements, design documents, test cases, and development records.
- Collaborate with Hardware, System, Motor Control, Validation, Functional Safety, and Project teams.
- Support ASPICE-based software development activities and deliverables.
Required Technical Skills
- Programming: Solid Embedded C; good C++ knowledge is an advantage.
- Embedded fundamentals: pointers, structures, memory, bit manipulation, interrupts, timers, ADC, PWM, DMA,
GPIO, watchdog, reset/start-up, and memory concepts.
- Automotive communication: CAN/CAN-FD and LIN; good understanding of UDS diagnostics; XCP is an advantage.
- MCUs: experience with at least one automotive MCU family such as Renesas RH850, Infineon TLE/AURIX, TI
C2000, NXP, or ST.
- Tools: CANoe/CANalyzer, Lauterbach TRACE32 or equivalent, Git, compiler/debugger environments, and
static-analysis tools such as Parasoft or Polyspace.
Automotive Software Knowledge
- V-Model software development and software lifecycle activities.
- Software requirements, architecture, detailed design, implementation, verification, and traceability.
- MISRA C/C++ and secure coding practices.
- Basic to good understanding of Automotive SPICE (ASPICE).
- Basic understanding of ISO 26262 Functional Safety.
- Basic understanding of ISO/SAE 21434 Cybersecurity.
- AUTOSAR knowledge is an advantage.
Preferred Experience - EV / Motor Controller
- FOC / motor-control software integration for PMSM/IPMSM motors.
- Current, speed, and torque control concepts.
- PWM / SVM and real-time motor-control ISR execution.
- Resolver and Hall sensor interfaces.
- Over-current, over-voltage, under-voltage, over-temperature, and other protection functions.
- CAN-based motor-controller communication and diagnostics.
- Calibration and measurement using CANape or equivalent tools.
- Bench, dyno, HIL, and vehicle-level software validation.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Computer Science, or a related
engineering discipline.
- 3-5 years of relevant embedded software development experience in automotive, EV, industrial, or similar
real-time embedded systems.
