Electrical Engineer – Semiconductor Equipment
Location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu
Experience: 4-8 Years
Work Mode: Full-time | Work from Office
Job Summary
We are looking for a Electrical Engineer with robust experience in semiconductor equipment design and engineering. The candidate will be responsible for electrical system design, power budgeting, schematics, cable/harness design, component selection, regulatory compliance, and integration with PLC-based control systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review electrical system architecture, schematics, ICDs and wiring diagrams for semiconductor equipment.
- Perform power budgeting, load calculations and electrical distribution planning.
- Design and review cable and harness assemblies, including cable sizing, routing, connectors and termination.
- Select and specify switchgear and electrical components such as breakers, contactors, relays, fuses, power supplies, transformers and disconnects.
- Work closely with Mechanical, Controls, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering teams for equipment integration.
- Develop and review electrical BOMs, specifications and technical documentation.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable regulatory requirements, electrical safety standards and SEMI standards.
- Support SEMI compliance, equipment safety reviews and design risk assessments.
- Integrate electrical systems with Siemens PLC or equivalent PLC platforms,
including I/O mapping and control-panel interfaces.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues during prototype build, testing, installation, and customer deployment.
- Participate in design reviews, supplier discussions and customer technical meetings
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
- 4-8 years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in semiconductor equipment / capital equipment.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Power budgeting and load calculations
- Electrical schematics and ICDs
- Cable & harness design
- Switchgear and component selection
- Electrical panel/control cabinet design
- Regulatory and safety compliance
- SEMI standards and compliance
- Siemens PLC or equivalent PLC systems
- Experience with electrical design tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, Zuken E3 or equivalent.
- Good understanding of industrial electrical systems, grounding, safety circuits and machine interfaces.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of SEMI S2/S8 and related equipment safety requirements.
- Experience with UL/IEC/CE or other applicable electrical safety standards.
- Exposure to equipment commissioning, validation and customer-site support
