Job Title: DOT Staff / Nursing Assistant (OT)

Purpose of the Job: To deliver patient’s care at the highest level with commitment and care.

Nature of Job / Routine tasks:

- Keep the operation theatre ready for the surgery.
- Keep the sterilized instruments ready in the theatre for surgery.
- Support the OT In-charge in checking and ensuring that the lenses, instruments and other consumables are ready for the next day.
- Provide the Ophthalmic surgeon and nurse at the right time with the required medicines, lenses, gloves and vitrectomy probe as instructed in the case sheet.
- After every day’s surgery, the instruments should be cleaned immediately and sent for sterilization.
- Assist in Surgery & Preparing the patients for eye surgery according to the requirement of the surgery.
- Clean the eyes to be operated with antiseptic lotion and prepare them to go to the operation theatre.
- Protect the operated eye with bandage after the operation is completed




- Send the patient to the ward after surgery is over.

General Duties

- On entering the operating theatre complex the nursing assistant should change the dress and clean the hands and feet with antiseptic solution.
- Help the OT In-charge, doctor and patients during operation & Pre-operation.
- Maintain hygiene by keeping the surroundings of the theatre clean.

Special tasks / Responsibilities:

- To autoclave / sterilize the instruments, lenin and other implements by all available methods i.e. autoclaving / steam sterilization / dry heating
- To get the clothing of the staff / patients / doctors washed and then keep them ready.
- To do all the tasks mentioned in the hospital infection control manual which are supposed to be done in the entire theatre block.
