Location: Ashoka University Campus, Sonipat, Haryana(Delhi-NCR)Department: Office of Academic AffairsReports To: Dean – Office of Academic AffairsRole Type: Full-timeExperience: 20+ years, including at least 10 years in academic or institutional leadership

ABOUT THE ROLE

Ashoka University invites applications for the position of Director, Office of Academic Affairs, a senior leadership role at a defining moment in the University's institutional evolution as it expands across seven Schools, deepens its interdisciplinary academic model, and establishes current standards of academic governance within Indian higher education. The Director will be responsible for the overall architecture of Ashoka's academic experience, spanning policy, governance, and the operating systems that support a community of over 3,000 students and a faculty of international distinction. The role requires a leader equally adept at shaping strategic direction in partnership with the Dean and senior University leadership, and at maintaining sufficient proximity to operations to identify where processes require attention or improvement. The role demands a leader who demonstrates robust ownership, provides mentorship to their team, and regards the quality of academic life not merely as an administrative responsibility but as a personal and institutional commitment.

ABOUT THE OFFICE OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS The Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) plays a pivotal role in advising students and in assisting them as they navigate their academic pathway towards completing their undergraduate degree. The Office of Academic Affairs facilitates students with a wide range of academic functions, including course planning, pre-registration for classes, class schedules and grade functions, scheduling academic classes, and processing student requests.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Responsibilities● Translate the University's academic strategy into an operating plan for Academic Affairs, and hold the department accountable to it.● Shape academic governance at Ashoka — developing, reviewing, and evolving policies, procedures,

and regulatory compliance as the University scales.● Bring an informed view on emerging trends in higher education and translate them into recommendations that shape Ashoka's future academic offerings.● Represent Academic Affairs in University-wide forums, building trusted working relationships with Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty, and senior administrators.

Academic Operations● Own the full academic calendar — planning, course offerings, registration, and scheduling — ensuring it runs with precision across a complex, multi-School structure.● Safeguard the integrity and continuity of student academic records and progression data, partnering with other colleges and university offices to keep them current.● Lead the University's academic integrity framework and academic counselling model, working across departments to ensure students are supported, not just monitored.● Partner with IT, Learning Support, Global Education, and other administrative functions to modernise and simplify academic processes end to end.

Academic Governance & Policy● Develop, review, implement, and periodically update academic policies.● Ensure compliance with University policies, academic regulations, and applicable statutory/regulatory requirements.Institutional Effectiveness & Process Improvement● Build a genuine mastery of how Ashoka's academic processes work in practice — and use that understanding to identify inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities others might miss.● Lead cross-functional improvement initiatives that measurably raise the quality, consistency, and efficiency of academic operations and the student experience.● Champion the use of academic information systems and data to inform decisions, rather than relying on institutional memory alone.

Team & Culture Leadership● Build and mentor a high-performing Academic Affairs team, creating a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.● Model a consultative, transparent leadership style that earns trust across faculty, students,

and administrative colleagues alike.
