: Cloud Engineer GitHub Actions, Jenkins (Groovy), Docker CI/CD

Location: Hyderabad (Hybrid/Flexible)

Department: Public Cloud / Platform Engineering / SRE

Role Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Cloud Engineer to design, build, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins (Groovy), and Docker across Kubernetes and cloud environments (Azure/AWS/GCP). The role focuses on automation, reliability, security, and developer experience—enabling fast, safe, and observable software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design and implement end-to-end CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and Jenkins (Pipeline-as-Code in Groovy).
2. Containerize applications using Docker; enforce image standards, multi-stage builds, and SBOM/scan compliance.
3. Automate build, test, security scanning (SCA/SAST/DAST), artifact versioning, and deployment to Kubernetes and cloud PaaS.
4. Create reusable workflow templates, composite actions, shared Jenkins libraries, and standardized pipeline stages.
5. Manage runners/agents (hosted/self-hosted) and Jenkins nodes; optimize concurrency, caching, and cost/performance.
6. Implement environment strategies (dev/stage/prod), release gating, and progressive delivery (canary/bluegreen).
7. Integrate observability into pipelines: metrics, logs, traces, and release annotations; publish build and deployment reports.
8. Apply security best practices: secrets management, least-privileged tokens, signed artifacts, provenance (SLSA).
9. Collaborate with SRE/Platform teams to improve reliability (rollbacks, health checks, readiness gates, feature flags).
10. Author documentation, runbooks, and onboarding guides; mentor teams in CI/CD, Docker, and pipeline hygiene.

Required Qualifications
- 5–10 years in DevOps/Platform/SRE; 3+ years building production-grade CI/CD pipelines.
- Expertise in GitHub Actions (workflows, composite actions, reusable workflows, environments, approvals).
- Expertise in Jenkins Pipeline (Declarative/Scripted) with Groovy, shared libraries, and Jenkinsfile design.
- Strong Docker skills: multi-stage builds, caching, image hardening, vulnerability scanning (Trivy/Grype).
- Hands-on with Kubernetes deployments (Helm/Kustomize), rollouts, HPA, and basic networking/policies.
- Cloud experience (Azure/AWS/GCP): IAM, artifact registries, runners/agents, and CI/CD integrations.
- Observability: integrating Prometheus/Grafana/ELK/Otel with deployment events and release health checks.
- Solid Git fundamentals: branching strategies (GitFlow/Trunk), protected branches, PR checks, and code review automation.

Nice-to-Have

- Experience with Terraform/Ansible for pipeline-driven infrastructure automation.
- Supply chain security (Sigstore/Cosign, SLSA level targets, SBOM generation).
- GitOps tools (Argo CD/Flux) and progressive delivery (Argo Rollouts).
- Testing frameworks in pipelines (unit/integration/e2e), contract testing, and ephemeral environments.
- Experience with caching strategies (BuildKit, GitHub cache, Jenkins pipeline caching) and monorepo patterns.

Soft Skills
- Clear communication and stakeholder alignment across Dev, QA, SRE, and Security.
- Bias for automation, reliability, and secure-by-default practices.
- Strong documentation, mentoring, and enablement mindset.

KPIs & Success Metrics
- Lead time for changes (builddeploy) and change failure rate.
- Deployment frequency and mean time to restore (MTTR).
- Pipeline reliability (success rate, flake rate) and mean pipeline duration.
- Security posture: secret exposure incidents, vulnerability remediation SLAs, signed artifact coverage.
- Developer experience: % of services onboarded to standardized pipelines; feedback cycle time.

Sample Interview Topics/Questions
- Design a GitHub Actions workflow for a microservice with build, test, scan, and deploy steps; include setting approvals.
- Write/describe a Jenkins declarative pipeline with shared library usage, parallel stages, and post conditions.
- Optimize Docker builds for speed and security: explain multi-stage builds, caching, and SBOM/signing.
- How would you implement canary or bluegreen deployments and tie them to automated health gates?
