About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps & Cloud Security Engineer to join our team at StarZen. In this pivotal role, you will own and manage our entire Azure and Microsoft technology stack, ensuring robust, secure, and optimized infrastructure operations.

Your responsibilities will include designing and maintaining cloud architecture, managing containerized environments, overseeing databases, and implementing comprehensive security measures. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to automate processes, monitor system health, and respond swiftly to incidents, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum security. The ideal candidate will have a proactive mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for leveraging AI tools to enhance operational efficiency.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex cloud environments, influence infrastructure strategy, and contribute to the security posture of a forward-thinking organization.

Qualifications To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and security, with a strong background in Azure technologies. Relevant certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-400, AZ-500, or CKA/CKS are preferred. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in managing relational databases like Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.





Proficiency in container orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes (AKS), Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Bicep, and scripting languages including Bash, PowerShell, and Python is essential. A solid understanding of network security, DDoS protection, WAF, and vulnerability management is required. Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT for scripting, troubleshooting, and documentation is highly desirable.

Candidates should also have experience with monitoring and alerting stacks, log management, and implementing security best practices across cloud environments.

Responsibilities

- Design and maintain comprehensive cloud architecture encompassing network, compute, data, and security layers, ensuring documentation is current and accessible.
- Manage Azure infrastructure components including VMs, VNets, NSGs, App Gateway, Front Door, and Entra ID/RBAC, optimizing costs and performance.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Bicep to automate deployment and configuration processes.
- Oversee containerized environments by managing AKS, Container Apps, and ACR, including building and securing Docker images with CVE scanning integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
- Administer relational databases such as Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, and MySQL, focusing on schema management, query optimization, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Manage MongoDB instances, ensuring data integrity, backups, sharding, and restore testing.
- Operate Elasticsearch or OpenSearch clusters, managing index lifecycle, shard sizing, snapshots, and cluster health monitoring.
- Maintain the ELK/EFK stack for centralized logging, ensuring efficient log retention, security, and compliance.
- Own the data platform, including Microsoft Fabric and OneLake, managing workspace setup, capacity planning, access controls,



and data governance policies.
- Handle business application integrations, including Dynamics 365 and ERP APIs, managing authentication, pipelines, data synchronization, and error handling.
- Implement and enforce secrets management policies using Azure Key Vault, ensuring zero hardcoded credentials and regular rotation schedules.
- Establish comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and Grafana, defining SLIs/SLOs and configuring alerts for immediate incident response.
- Define and maintain log retention policies aligned with compliance standards, including archival and secure access controls.
- Conduct continuous vulnerability scanning across servers, containers, and dependencies, triaging and remediating CVEs within defined SLAs, and operating Defender for Cloud and Sentinel.
- Configure security features such as Azure DDoS Protection, WAF, rate limiting, geo/IP filtering, and anti-scraping controls to safeguard infrastructure and applications.
- Maintain patch management routines for all servers and container images, including emergency updates for critical vulnerabilities.
- Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, maintaining comprehensive documentation of scheduled jobs, their purpose, and failure handling procedures.
- Design and test backup and disaster recovery plans, ensuring RTO and RPO are met through regular testing and updates.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including runbooks, SOPs, change logs, and asset inventories, to ensure infrastructure transparency and operational readiness.
