DESIGN ENGINEER – SPM AUTOMATION

Job Responsibilities

- Design and develop Special Purpose Machines (SPM) and industrial automation equipment.
- Create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
- Prepare machine layouts, assembly drawings, part drawings, and fabrication drawings.
- Design mechanical components such as brackets, fixtures, jigs, shafts, plates, frames, and machine assemblies.
- Understand customer requirements and convert them into suitable mechanical designs.
- Prepare and maintain BOM (Bill of Materials) and design-related documents.
- Select suitable mechanical components based on machine requirements.
- Coordinate with the Project, Production, Purchase, Assembly, and Electrical teams.
- Review designs for manufacturability, assembly, and functionality.
- Modify and improve existing machine designs based on project requirements.
- Support the assembly and production team during machine build and troubleshooting.
- Check drawings for dimensions, tolerances, fits, and proper GD&T; where required.
- Participate in machine trials and provide design support for design-related issues.

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of SolidWorks.
- Good knowledge of 3D Modelling and 2D Drafting.




- Knowledge of AutoCAD will be an added advantage.
- Understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of machine components, bearings, shafts, gears, pneumatic components, and linear motion systems.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of GD&T;, tolerances, fits, and material selection.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

Educational Qualification

- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Experience 1–5 years of experience in:

- SPM Design
- Industrial Automation
- Machine Design
- Special Purpose Machine manufacturing
- Automation equipment design

Preferred Candidates

- Candidates with hands-on experience in SolidWorks machine design.
- Experience in SPM/Automation machine design will be preferred.
- Candidates who can independently handle 3D modelling, 2D drawings, BOM, and assembly drawings.
- Fresh design concepts and positive technical knowledge will be an advantage.
