Job Responsibilities
Educational Qualifications Required:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering is preferred with 3 5 years
- Design and develop truck ladder frames, including side rails, cross members, gussets, brackets, and suspension mounts
- Create 3D CAD models, large assemblies, and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings using Creo.
- Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T;)as per ASME Y14.5 standards to ensure proper fitment and assembly.
- Optimize designs for weight reduction (light weighting) while maintaining structural integrity and payload capacity.
- Perform preliminary structural calculations (bending moments, torsional stiffness, and shear stresses).
- Collaborate closely with CAE teams to review Finite Element Analysis (FEA) results, interpreting stress, fatigue, and NVH data to iterate and improve designs.
- Knowledge of BOM,GD&, DFA & DFS
- Define joining specifications, including bolted, riveted, and welded connections.
- Technical competency in understanding electric And ICE Car & bus design.
- Good knowledge of Sheet metal, Casting and forging part design.
- Positive knowledge of complete vehicle sub systems including frame, trims, Steering system, Suspension system, motor mtg, Propeller shaft, wheel & brakes,
electricals & Vehicle dynamics.
- Good knowledge of EV Car/Bus Homologation requirements.
- Good understanding of DFM/ DFA/ DFS/ DFMEA and GD&T;
- Responsible to provide weekly / monthly updates for reviews
- Identifying and completing relevant benchmarking for the projects, setting weight and cost targets based on benchmark
- Expert in release process using PLM/PDM software.
- Knowledge of Bus body code will be added advantage.
Experience Required:
- Work experience in Bus design and development.
- Hands on Design experience on Creo Tool.
- Sound knowledge about calculations, manufacturing processes, different material grades used for automotive applications
- Knowledge of BOM,GD&, DFA & DFS
- Customer interactions
- Exposure to relevant design standards. (AIS, IS, JIS, JASO, DIN, ISO)
- Materials Knowledge: Deep understanding of high-strength structural steels (e.g., HSLA), advanced high-strength steels (AHSS), and their forming behaviors.
- Manufacturing Knowledge: Familiarity with sheet metal stamping, roll forming, casting, and robotic welding processes.
