About the Opportunity
HummingBird is hiring a Data Quality Analyst on behalf of its client, a leading organization in the BFSI industry based in Mumbai.
We are looking for an experienced Data Quality Analyst to ensure the accuracy, completeness, consistency, integrity, and reliability of critical business and financial data.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in data-quality management, SQL, data validation, data profiling, and data analysis, along with an understanding of BFSI data and regulatory requirements. The role will work closely with Data Management, Technology, Business, Risk, Compliance, and Reporting teams.
Key Responsibilities
Data Quality Management
- Define, implement, and monitor data-quality rules, standards, and controls.
- Perform data profiling and identify data-quality issues across multiple data sources.
- Validate data for accuracy, completeness, consistency, uniqueness, timeliness, and integrity.
- Investigate data-quality exceptions and perform root-cause analysis.
- Develop appropriate remediation plans and track issues through resolution.
- Monitor recurring data-quality problems and recommend preventive measures.
Data Validation & Testing
- Develop and execute SQL queries to validate data across databases and systems.
- Perform source-to-target data validation and reconciliation.
- Validate data transformations and data-migration processes.
- Conduct testing for data pipelines, ETL processes, reports, dashboards, and downstream applications.
- Identify data discrepancies and collaborate with technical teams to resolve them.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and data-quality testing activities.
BFSI Data Analysis
- Work with financial, customer, transaction, risk, compliance, and operational datasets.
- Validate critical data elements used for financial reporting and business decision-making.
- Support data-quality requirements related to banking, financial services, or insurance processes.
- Identify data issues that may impact regulatory reporting, risk management, customer reporting, or operational processes.
- Maintain a strong understanding of data lineage and critical data elements.
Data Governance
- Support implementation of data-governance frameworks and policies.
- Define and maintain data-quality metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Maintain data-quality documentation, business rules, definitions, and issue logs.
- Support data owners and stewards in resolving data-quality issues.
- Contribute to data lineage, metadata, and data-dictionary initiatives.
- Ensure data-quality practices align with organizational governance and compliance requirements.
Reporting & Analytics
- Develop data-quality dashboards and reports to track quality metrics.
- Monitor trends in data-quality performance and identify areas requiring improvement.
- Prepare regular data-quality reports for business and technology stakeholders.
- Present findings, root causes, and remediation recommendations to relevant teams.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with Data Engineering, Data Management, IT, Business, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and Operations teams.
- Work with data owners and business stakeholders to understand data requirements.
- Communicate data-quality issues and their potential business impact clearly.
- Coordinate remediation activities across technical and business teams.
- Participate in data-governance and data-quality review meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering , or a related field.
- 4–8 years of experience in Data Quality, Data Analysis, Data Governance, Data Testing, or a related function.
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL and relational databases.
- Experience with data profiling, data validation, reconciliation, and quality analysis.
- Solid understanding of data-quality dimensions and data-management concepts.
- Experience working with large and complex datasets.
- Strong analytical and root-cause-analysis skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred Technical Skills Experience with several of the following will be an advantage:
- SQL: Complex queries, joins, CTEs, subqueries, window functions.
- ETL/Data: Informatica, Talend, SSIS, DataStage, or similar.
- Data Quality Tools: Informatica Data Quality, IBM QualityStage, Talend, Ataccama, or similar.
- BI & Reporting: Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent.
- Databases: Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Teradata, Snowflake.
- Cloud/Data Platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP, Databricks, Snowflake.
- Experience with data lineage and metadata-management tools.
- Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages for data validation and automation.
Preferred BFSI Experience Experience working with one or more of the following data domains will be an advantage:
- Customer and account data
- Banking transactions
- Loans and mortgages
- Credit and risk data
- Payments and cards
- Insurance policies and claims
- Financial reporting
- Regulatory reporting
- KYC/AML data
- Fraud and compliance data
- Master and reference data
