About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with expertise in Scala, Spark, Kafka, and Big Data technologies to join our team on a contract basis. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data platforms capable of processing vast volumes of both batch and real-time data. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in distributed data processing, streaming platforms, and cloud-based data infrastructure.

You will work closely with engineering and analytics teams to build robust data pipelines, optimize data workflows, and ensure high-quality, reliable data access across the organization. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of modern data lake and lakehouse architectures, supporting strategic data initiatives for our clients.

Qualifications

- Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering, Big Data Engineering, or a related field.




- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Robust programming skills in Scala with hands-on experience in developing data processing applications.
- Extensive experience with Apache Spark for both batch and streaming workloads.
- Proficiency in Hive, SQL, and data modeling techniques.
- Practical experience with Kafka for real-time event streaming and data pipeline integration.
- Familiarity with cloud storage solutions such as S3, and Big Data tools like Presto, Delta Lake, and Hive.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot performance issues and optimize distributed data workloads.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to technical challenges.

Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines for both batch and real-time data processing.
- Create robust data processing applications using Scala and Apache Spark, ensuring efficiency and reliability.
- Build and manage real-time streaming pipelines utilizing Kafka and Spark Structured Streaming.
- Design scalable data models and implement data processing solutions aligned with business needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data solutions within cloud environments such as S3 and Delta Lake.
- Analyze, troubleshoot,



and optimize Spark jobs and distributed data workloads for performance improvements.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and security across all platforms and pipelines.
- Participate in the development of modern data lake and lakehouse architectures to support analytics and reporting initiatives.
- Document technical specifications, workflows, and best practices for data engineering processes.
- Stay updated with emerging Big Data technologies and recommend improvements to existing data infrastructure.
