About The Job:

- We are seeking a Principal Data Architect to lead the modernization and transformation of Timkens enterprise data estate.

- This role will define the data architecture vision, platform roadmap, reference patterns, and governance guardrails needed to make enterprise data secure, reliable, discoverable, reusable, and optimized for analytics, AI/ML, and operational use cases.

- The Principal Data Architect will serve as a trusted advisor to business and technology leaders, translating strategic needs into practical data architecture decisions, standards, and adoption plans.

- The position is based in Bangalore and is part of the Enterprise Architecture team within Corporate IT.

Essential Job Functions:

- Strategy & Roadmap: Drive the enterprise data architecture vision and roadmap, aligning architecture decisions with business strategy, corporate objectives and larger enterprise architecture.

- Platform Architecture: Lead architecture design for cross-domain platforms (Data Lakehouse, enterprise data warehouse, real-time streaming, feature stores) to support analytics, ML, and operational use cases.

- DevOps & Automation: Design and oversee CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment frameworks.

- Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams to streamline release processes and ensure stability.

- Technology Evaluation:



Evaluate and recommend strategic technology choices and vendor partnerships; lead proof-of-concepts and total cost of ownership analysis.

- Reference Frameworks: Create and maintain reusable architecture patterns for data ingestion, pipelines, storage, transformation, serving, metadata, FinOps, data quality, performance, resilience, and observability. Standards & Guardrails: Define and govern enterprise data architecture standards, design principles, review criteria, and reusable best practices to ensure consistent implementation across initiatives.

- Data Governance: Embed data governance capabilities into architecture, including cataloging, lineage, quality, master data management, metadata management, and lifecycle controls.

- Security & Compliance: Incorporate security, privacy, and regulatory controls into data architecture, including classification, access control, encryption, masking,

- anonymization/pseudonymization, and compliance obligations such as GDPR and CCPA where applicable.

- Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to delivery teams and analysts, review designs and architecture artifacts for consistency and quality.

- Architecture Alignment: Partner with Enterprise Architecture and Solution Architecture teams to maintain architectural consistency across enterprise platforms, applications, and data products.

- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with business, data governance, infrastructure, security, analytics, and application teams to drive platform adoption, integration, and enterprise data reuse.

Qualifications:

- Education: Bachelors or masters degree in computer science, information systems, or related field. Architecture

- Experience:



15+ years of experience in enterprise, solution or platform architecture roles - data architecture, data warehousing or enterprise data engineering.

Database Technologies: Proficiency across relational, analytical, lakehouse, NoSQL, and cloud-native database technologies and management systems.

- Data Architecture & MoClienting: Experience with lakehouse architecture, enterprise data warehouse, data lake, medallion architecture, dimensional moClienting, Data Vault, ontology, and knowledge graph concepts. Data
