Role Purpose

Lead the Cylinder Head Machining operations within the Powertrain Manufacturing function, ensuring delivery of production, quality, cost, safety, and productivity targets. Drive manufacturing excellence through process capability enhancement, TPM implementation, continuous improvement initiatives, and people leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations Management

- Drive daily production performance to achieve volume, quality, cost, and delivery targets.
- Lead machining operations for cylinder head manufacturing lines.
- Ensure optimum machine utilization, manpower deployment, and resource planning.
- Support current product introduction, machining line setup, commissioning, and production ramp-up.
- Drive capacity enhancement through debottlenecking and process optimization.

Process Engineering & Technical Excellence

- Provide technical leadership on CNC machining processes including milling, boring, honing, drilling, reaming, and finish machining.
- Drive CNC programming, tool optimization, machine setting, component trials, and process validation.
- Ensure process capability improvement through SPC monitoring, Cp/Cpk and Pp/Ppk analysis.
- Lead resolution of machining, dimensional, process, and quality-related issues.
- Analyze CMM reports and implement corrective actions to improve process stability.

Quality Management

- Ensure adherence to manufacturing quality standards and customer requirements.
- Drive implementation of PFMEA, MSA, SPC, Control Plans, and other quality systems.
- Lead initiatives toward zero-defect manufacturing and rejection reduction.
- Ensure process and product compliance through effective quality controls and audits.

Cost, Productivity & Continuous Improvement

- Drive machining cost reduction initiatives through tool life improvement, cycle time reduction, and process optimization.
- Lead productivity improvement projects and work-content reduction initiatives.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement projects to enhance operational efficiency.
- Support energy conservation and power cost reduction programs.

Safety & Manufacturing Excellence

- Drive TPM implementation and sustainment across machining operations.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all EHS requirements.
- Implement best practices in 5S, Daily Work Management (DWM), and problem-solving methodologies.
- Drive operational discipline and manufacturing excellence initiatives across the shop floor.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education

- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering.

Experience

- 6+ years of experience in automotive machining production, preferably in engine, cylinder head, cylinder block, or powertrain manufacturing environments.
- Experience in leading machining operations within automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers preferred.

Technical Competencies

- Strong expertise in CNC and HMC machining operations.
- Hands-on knowledge of Fanuc and Siemens control systems.
- Good understanding of CNC programming, tooling, and process optimization.
- Experience with machining processes such as milling, boring, honing, drilling, reaming, and grinding.
- Knowledge of CMM, GD&T;, SPC, MSA, PFMEA, and quality management systems.
- Sound understanding of cutting tools, machining technology, and engine manufacturing processes.
- Exposure to TPM, Lean Manufacturing, DWM, and Manufacturing Excellence practices.

Leadership Competencies

- Strong people management and team leadership skills.
- Analytical problem-solving ability.
- Effective stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Proven track record in driving productivity, quality, and cost improvements.
