Key Responsibilities
1. Pre-Operative Patient Care
- Take and document patient history and clinical information under the supervision of the CTVS consultant.
- Assist in pre-operative assessment and preparation of patients.
- Ensure required investigations, reports, blood grouping/cross-matching, and other pre-operative work-up are completed.
- Coordinate with anesthesia and other departments for surgical clearance.
- Explain routine pre-operative instructions to patients and attendants as directed by the consultant.
2. Post-Operative Care
- Assist in monitoring post-operative CTVS patients in wards and ICU.
- Monitor and document vital signs, drain output, urine output, and other relevant clinical parameters.
- Assist in identifying and escalating any deterioration or abnormal findings to the treating consultant.
- Assist with post-operative rounds and implementation of treatment plans prescribed by the consultant.
- Coordinate investigations and follow-up of laboratory and imaging reports.
3. CTVS Ward & ICU Support
- Assist the CTVS team during daily rounds.
- Maintain accurate patient records, progress notes, treatment documentation, and discharge summaries as assigned.
- Coordinate with ICU, emergency, blood bank, laboratory, radiology, physiotherapy, and other support services.
- Assist in managing routine clinical requirements of CTVS patients under appropriate supervision.
4. Surgical & Procedural Assistance
- Assist the CTVS surgical team during procedures as permitted by qualifications, hospital policy, and consultant instructions.
- Ensure necessary instruments, investigations, records,
and patient-related information are available before procedures.
- Assist in maintaining appropriate documentation related to procedures and surgeries.
5. Emergency & On-Call Responsibilities
- Assist the CTVS team in managing emergency and urgent patients.
- Promptly communicate changes in patient condition to the consultant/senior medical team.
- Participate in on-call duties as per departmental roster.
- Coordinate urgent investigations, referrals, blood products, and other clinical requirements.
6. Patient & Attendant Coordination
- Communicate routine clinical information and instructions to patients and attendants within the scope of the role.
- Assist consultants in coordinating patient counselling regarding investigations, surgery preparation, post-operative care, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain qualified and compassionate communication with patients and families.
7. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain complete and accurate medical records.
- Assist with discharge summaries, operative records, follow-up documentation, and other clinical paperwork.
- Follow hospital SOPs, infection-control protocols, patient-safety standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Physician Assistant / Physician Associate / Clinical Physician Assistant or an equivalent recognized qualification
