Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to manage product costing, manufacturing accounting, WIP, inventory valuation, production variance analysis, and profitability reporting, and having a good expertise into QuickBooks and USA/Canada Accounting
Core Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and regularly update detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) and standard costing structures for all SKUs and product revisions.
- Maintain comprehensive product costing covering formulas, raw materials, packaging, printing, decoration, filling, assembly, inspection, testing, freight, duties, warehousing, and total landed costs.
- Review and validate units of measure, pack configurations, fill weights, production quantities, component consumption, yield assumptions, and approved production overages.
- Calculate and analyze actual manufacturing costs at the SKU, batch, customer-order, supplier, and factory levels.
- Take ownership of WIP accounting for bulk formulas, production-issued components, partially completed products, finished goods pending QA release, rework, repacking, relabeling, and inventory held with contract manufacturers.
- Perform detailed WIP reconciliations by SKU, batch, production order, manufacturing facility, production stage, quantity, and financial value.
- Reconcile production deposits, factory accruals, uninvoiced receipts, materials issued to production, unused components, bulk inventory, completed production, and finished-goods receipts.
- Track and quantify production losses, including bulk losses, overfilling, setup waste, damaged components, defective packaging, rejected finished goods, sorting, rework, repacking, relabeling, and product destruction.
- Distinguish between normal manufacturing losses and abnormal or recoverable losses and ensure appropriate accounting treatment.
- Determine the financial impact and responsible party for supplier defects, factory-related damage, freight damage, warehouse losses, shortages, and other unexplained inventory discrepancies.
- Prepare supporting financial documentation for supplier and manufacturing-factory chargebacks, debit notes, credit claims, replacements, refunds, and insurance claims.
- Monitor outstanding recoveries and follow through until credits, replacements, refunds, or other recoverable amounts are received and properly recorded.
- Calculate and maintain accurate landed costs, including international freight, customs, duties, brokerage, insurance, handling, drayage, and warehouse receiving costs.
- Reconcile raw materials, components, bulk inventory, WIP, finished goods, goods in transit, quarantine inventory, damaged inventory, and related general-ledger balances.
- Analyze and report profitability by SKU, customer, production order, and new-product launch.
- Support current-product development and costing activities and provide financial validation and approval before products move into mass production.
- Establish and maintain cost-accounting policies, WIP controls, production variance classifications, loss-reporting requirements, inventory write-off procedures, and production-order closing controls.
- Work closely with NPI, Purchasing, Supplier Quality, Production and QA teams, Logistics, Warehouse Operations, Sales, Customer Service,
and Accounting to ensure operational activities are accurately reflected in financial records.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5 years of qualified experience in cost accounting, manufacturing finance, inventory accounting, or operational finance.
- Professional accounting designation or cost-accounting certification is preferred.
- Strong understanding of BOMs, standard costing, actual costing, WIP accounting, landed-cost calculations, inventory valuation, manufacturing variances, and gross-margin analysis.
- Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks is required, including managing day-to-day accounting activities, reconciliations, inventory-related accounting, and financial reporting within QuickBooks.
- Proven experience working in an accounting/finance role for Canadian or U.S.-based companies is strongly preferred. Candidates should be comfortable working with North American accounting practices, processes, and financial requirements.
- Robust working knowledge of ERP, purchasing, inventory-management, and accounting systems.
- Strong ownership and accountability for inventory, WIP, manufacturing costs, and financial controls.
Pay: ₹350,000.00 - ₹500,000.00 per year
