– ANAESTHETIST

Reports To: Medical Director / Head of Anaesthesia Department
- Purpose of the Position The Anaesthetist is responsible for providing safe and effective anaesthesia care to patients undergoing surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures. The role includes pre-operative assessment, administration of anaesthesia, intra-operative monitoring, and post-operative pain management while ensuring patient safety in accordance with hospital protocols and NABH guidelines.
- Pre-Operative Responsibilities
· Conduct Pre‑Anaesthesia Check (PAC) for all surgical patients.
· Review patient medical history, investigations, allergies and medications.
· Assess anaesthesia risk and ASA classification.
· Explain anaesthesia procedure and obtain informed consent.
· Plan suitable anaesthesia technique (general, regional, spinal, epidural, local or sedation).
- Intra-Operative Responsibilities
· Administer anaesthesia safely according to surgical requirements.
· Continuously monitor vital parameters including ECG, BP, oxygen saturation and ventilation.
· Manage airway including intubation and ventilatory support when required.
· Maintain patient haemodynamic stability during procedures.
· Maintain complete and accurate anaesthesia records.
· Respond promptly to anaesthesia-related complications and emergencies.
- Post-Operative Responsibilities
· Monitor patients in Post Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
· Manage post‑operative pain and sedation.
· Assess recovery from anaesthesia before discharge from PACU.
· Identify and manage complications such as nausea, vomiting or respiratory depression.
- Critical Care & Emergency Responsibilities
· Provide anaesthesia support in ICU,
Emergency and Labour Room.
· Participate in Code Blue and resuscitation teams.
· Assist in ventilator management in critical care units.
· Manage emergency airway situations.
- Administrative Responsibilities
· Follow hospital policies, NABH standards and infection control guidelines.
· Maintain proper documentation and anaesthesia records.
· Participate in clinical audits, mortality meetings and quality improvement activities.
· Ensure proper functioning and safety of anaesthesia equipment.
· Assist in training junior doctors, nurses and technicians.
- Patient Safety & Quality Responsibilities
· Ensure compliance with WHO Surgical Safety Checklist.
· Follow medication safety protocols.
· Report adverse events and near miss incidents.
· Participate in NABH quality indicators and audits.
- Qualification
· MD / DNB in Anaesthesiology or Diploma in Anaesthesia (DA).
· Valid registration with National Medical Commission (NMC) or State Medical Council.
- Experience
· Minimum 1–3 years experience in hospital anaesthesia practice.
· Experience in ICU and emergency anaesthesia preferred.
- Key Skills
· Solid clinical judgement and decision making.
· Expertise in airway management and resuscitation.
· Knowledge of anaesthesia machines, ventilators and monitoring equipment.
· Good communication and teamwork skills.
· Ability to manage emergency and high‑pressure situations.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
· Anaesthesia safety and complication rates.
· Compliance with NABH documentation standards.
· Emergency response time.
· Accuracy and completeness of anaesthesia records.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From ₹150,000.00 per month
