ROLE OVERVIEW The Community Manager is responsible for building, nurturing and scaling micro-communities across SOCIAL outlets in Mumbai & Pune.
This role exists to ensure SOCIAL remains the home for hyperlocal culture from music to fandom, wellness, creators, hobbies, neighbourhood groups and everything in between.
This is not an office role. Its on-ground, people-first, and experience-led with only 3 days of working from the Head Office in Mumbai.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Community Building & Network Development
- Map and build relationships with hyperlocal communities:
- Fandom groups
- Wellness & fitness collectives
- Creators & podcasters
- Neighbourhood hobby groups
• Student communities
- Maintain a verified roster of 150200 active community leads per city.
- Identify new cultural signals and emerging interests in the city and ensure SOCIAL is the first to bring these to life on ground.
B.
Monthly Community
Programming
- Build and maintain a monthly community calendar for assigned outlets.
- Curate formats that fit SOCIAL’s IPs, Jumpstart, Fan’Verse, Pub lectures, SOCIAL Wrks, etc.
- Work with internal teams to lock dates, formats, venue flow, and logistics and promotion plans.
C. On-Ground Hosting &
Experience Delivery
- Act as the on-ground face of each community: warm, inclusive, high-energy.
- Facilitate events.
- Ensure every gathering feels intentional, well-paced, and true to the community’s culture.
- Build repeat attendance and robust belonging.
- Build micro-communities and enable conversations and informal meet ups.
D.
Community Relationship
Management
- Maintain consistent communication with all community leaders.
- Create repeatable engagement routines, unofficial hang outs, engage community members via existing WhatsApp communities.
- Build and nurture long-term citywide communities that see SOCIAL as their cultural home.
E.
Community
Intelligence & Reporting
- Track and report:
- Attendance
- Repeat participants
- Quality of interactions
• Anecdotal community insights
- Provide weekly & monthly reports outlining what worked, learnings, and upcoming opportunities.
F. Content Support (Community POV)
- Capture UGC moments, stories, and insights from every engagement.
- Work with the content team on:
- Narrative angles
- Community stories
- Highlight reels
• Promotional content
- Ensure community voices are represented authentically.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Essential
- Deep understanding of city culture (music, fandom, creators, wellness, nightlife).
- Extremely people-centric: warm, approachable, high EQ.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple community groups at once.
- Highly organised; strong follow-through and documentation discipline.
- Comfortable being 60–70% on-ground across multiple outlets.
Preferred
- Prior experience in community building, events, youth culture, nightlife, or creator ecosystem.
- Ability to build safe, inclusive, and welcoming spaces.
- Understanding of basic content capture and storytelling.
