As a PhD Intern (Chemistry), the selected candidate will conduct research independently and/or under limited guidance on specific topics. This PhD Chemistry Internship includes theoretical literature searches, experimental procedures, use of analytical instruments, data analysis, and preparation of reports and presentations. This role involves working with a cutting-edge research team in the domain of materials science and chemistry, focusing on the next generation of aerospace materials.

Responsibilities

- Conduct research and experiments in assigned projects under limited guidance, focusing on materials science, electrochemistry, catalysis,



or polymer chemistry relevant to GE Aerospace applications.
- Design and execute experimental protocols, analyse data, and interpret results to draw meaningful conclusions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, materials scientists, and other researchers, to integrate chemical insights into broader project goals.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and scientific publications summarising research findings.
- Operate and maintain advanced analytical instrumentation and laboratory equipment.
- Participate in regular project meetings, present progress, and contribute to technical discussions.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and best practices within the laboratory environment.
- Stay updated with the latest scientific literature and advancements in relevant chemical fields.

Eligibility Criteria

- Currently pursuing a PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Strong theoretical and practical understanding of fundamental chemical principles.
- Demonstrated experience in experimental design, execution, and data analysis.
- Proficiency in using various analytical techniques relevant to chemistry (e.g., spectroscopy, chromatography, microscopy, electrochemical methods).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex technical information.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to research challenges.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Prior experience in an industrial research setting or with projects relevant to aerospace is a plus.
