Business Development Intern

Critical Power Export Growth

Reports to: Head of Sales, Critical Power Division

Location: Gurugram (in-office)

Duration: 3–6 months

Stipend: [To be confirmed]

Conversion: Performance-linked pre-placement offer

About the role

Exicom’s critical power business supplies DC power systems, telecom power, and lithium-ion energy storage to telecom operators, tower companies, data centres, and infrastructure EPCs. We are expanding this business beyond India across MENA, Africa, and Southeast Asia.

This role sits at the front end of that expansion. You will spend most of your time finding, contacting, and qualifying potential buyers, partners, and distributors in target export markets, and building the account intelligence that makes those conversations land. This is not a research-report internship: output is measured in qualified conversations created.

What you’ll do

Prospecting and outreach (~60%)

- Build target account lists for assigned markets: telecom operators and towercos, data centre developers, system integrators, power distributors, and utilities
- Identify and verify the right decision-makers (procurement, network deployment, energy and infrastructure heads) using LinkedIn Sales Navigator, company websites, and trade databases
- Run structured outbound sequences over email and LinkedIn — draft, personalise, send, follow up, and iterate on what gets replies
- Qualify inbound and outbound leads against a defined ICP (market, application, volume, buying stage) before handing them to the regional sales lead
- Maintain every account, contact, and interaction in the CRM as the single source of truth — no parallel spreadsheets

Market and account intelligence (~25%)
- Map competitive presence, pricing benchmarks, and local partner ecosystems in assigned geographies
- Build one-page account briefs ahead of leadership meetings and partner calls
- Track certification, import duty,

and local-content requirements that affect our ability to sell or bid in each market
- Prepare proposal inputs, product comparison sheets, and pitch material tailored to a specific buyer

Tender tracking and deal support (~15%)
- Monitor tenders, RFQs, and network rollout announcements in target markets, and flag relevant ones with a short qualification note
- Coordinate follow-ups across product, quality, and logistics teams to unblock live opportunities
- Maintain a weekly pipeline and outreach dashboard for review

What success looks like
- First 30 days: ICP and target account list defined and validated for two markets; CRM hygiene established
- By month 3: a consistent weekly outreach cadence running, with a measurable reply and meeting-conversion rate, and the first qualified opportunities in the pipeline
- By month 6 (if extended): a repeatable, documented outbound playbook for critical power exports that a full-time hire can inherit, plus a defensible pipeline of qualified accounts

Who we’re looking for
- Final-year student or recent graduate — engineering, business, economics, or international trade
- Comfortable with high-volume outreach and with rejection; persistent follow-up is the job
- Sharp written English
- Strong Excel and structured research skills; able to turn scattered sources into a clean, decision-ready list
- Genuine curiosity about power electronics, telecom infrastructure, and energy storage — you don’t need domain knowledge on day one
- Self-directed: works across time zones with limited supervision and reports progress without being chased

Nice to have
- Exposure to CRM tools or sales-engagement platforms
- Familiarity with tender portals or export documentation
- A second language relevant to MENA, Francophone Africa

Why this role You will own a live growth mandate inside a listed company’s international business, work directly with the division’s sales leadership, and see your outreach convert into real orders. High performers convert to a full time business development role.
